Re: 2020 NRL Round 16: Teams and Game Day
Not a very interesting round this one is it? Should be a few scores put on. Apart from the Thursday game where we would prefer the eels to do a job for us just to help knock another team out of the 4 race. We'd like the warriors and broncos to do a job too but don't see that happening
Re: 2020 NRL Round 16: Teams and Game Day
I don't have eels making the four. If they collapse like they look like doing we could sneak into 3rd or 4th.

Re: 2020 NRL Round 16: Teams and Game Day
Played with ladder predictor. 3rd, 4th, 5th is going to be tight. For the Eels to miss top 4 will need an upset to Warriors, Broncos or Tigers. Last one would be main chance. This assumes both Bunnies and Panthers knock them off.

2020 NRL Round 16: Teams and Game Day
I have no idea where you guys are all pulling this Eels collapse from. They might have lost to the dragons a couple of weeks ago, but they’ve won four out of their last five games otherwise
I dunno why you think they’ll all of a sudden choke to guys like Souths, the Warriors and the Broncos.

Re: 2020 NRL Round 16: Teams and Game Day
They've been pretty ordinary for a month. If they don't choke over the next few weeks they probably will in the finals. I don't see them in the same class as the rest of the top 4.

Re: 2020 NRL Round 16: Teams and Game Day
I don’t see them winning the comp either, but looking at their draw I only realistically see them dropping a game to panthers running into the finals.
Tonight is their second biggest test, and even if they drop that, I don’t see them losing any of the other three games against the warriors, donkeys or tigers.

Re: 2020 NRL Round 16: Teams and Game Day
If they don't improve I see the Warriors and Tigers as 50/50 games. Tigers still have to make a dash for 9th spot so don't write them off to cause an upset and nobody knows which warriors side turns up - though Payten has got them playing pretty consistent.

I couldn’t put the Tigers as a 50/50 game. 75/25 and maybe even that’s a stretch.gergreg wrote:If they don't improve I see the Warriors and Tigers as 50/50 games. Re: 2020 NRL Round 16: Teams and Game Day
Things could drastically change each round as well as teams realize it's almost over. Tigers already don't have a realistic chance but the week before they face the eels they have melbourne and before that the rabbits. 3 sides in a row gearing up for a finals campaign when your season is already over.
I'd be impressed if the tigers finished 9th.
The dragons have a couple of winnable games before it gets tough again. Could see them finishing higher.

Nicely worked try from the Bunnies. Lattrell can be a wonderful player when he wants to be.

The Eels might have a better defensive record than the Raiders, but I'm not sure they have the better defence. I think they're going to be vulnerable in the big games.
Re: 2020 NRL Round 16: Teams and Game Day
This performance from Parra has been building for weeks. Souths are playing very well but Parra's gone.

Yeah some brilliant stuff from Souths but Eels have lead in their boots. Way off the pace

Mitchell's hamstring is gone, for the season, by the looks. And a no try to Brown too.

That decision was consistent with the one against Havili in Broncos game.

That looks terrible for Latrell
Re: 2020 NRL Round 16: Teams and Game Day
I think they're gone too. And it couldn't happen to a nicer club. Well, maybe the Panthers, the Roosters, the Broncos...
Re: 2020 NRL Round 16: Teams and Game Day
This is becoming a Broncos level hiding

Souths look incredible and Parra the opposite. Goes to show it's a long season with lots of ebbs and flows
I think we could take Souths even in this form though, due to our middle

We debated this last year with Roosters v Raiders - is it a penalty of you mistime a jump and take the other guy out before they get a chance to play at the ball? I think it should be

I *really* think it should be. That's a terrible call actually and open to exploitation. If you take a guy out, intentional or not, it should be a penalty

The Eels have a soft underbelly. They will be found out in the finals.

Souths points differential makes them a threat to us now, 45 ahead of us

I think it was ok as Sivo only had eyes for the ball. What Penrith is doing is wrong thoughCanberra Milk wrote:I *really* think it should be. That's a terrible call actually and open to exploitation. If you take a guy out, intentional or not, it should be a penalty

Switch Sivo for Cotric. Would you be okay for Cotric to be penalised in identical circumstances?Canberra Milk wrote:He had eyes for the ball, but he didn't get it, he got the man. And Souths were disadvantaged

Well, last night's game certainly showed just how much I know about rugba leeg.

If we keep winning, that scoreline also makes 3rd a possibility. Good result for us I think.Northern Raider wrote: ↑August 27, 2020, 10:05 pmOnly if we lose. Absolutely. This rule is too exploitable. It punishes the player who timed their jump correctly
Gutherson actually did it earlier in the year and *was* penalised. Presumably the ref thought that one was so bad that it warranted a penalty (he took the fullback out super early, much earlier than Sivo's), or maybe they thought he did it intentionally
Re: 2020 NRL Round 16: Teams and Game Day
Well I thought the one last night was a fairly even contest. Both players realistically had a chance to catch the ball. The Panthers are doing shallow kicks and getting a couple of players to essentially block the fullback from taking a clean catch - or a form of tunnelling under the jumping fullback.Canberra Milk wrote:Absolutely. I honestly don't have a problem with most interpretations of the rules so long as there is consistency and watching rugba leege long enough I know this simply won't happen.
