Melbourne looking off the pace again. How long before Cam moves to the halves?

Last tackle 10 metres out and it's an inside pass to the centre on an angle.

34th min TRY STORM to Suli Vunivalu. Cameron Munster made a brilliant break down the middle, it is kicked ahead by Hughes and Alex Johnston can't handle it... and the ball falls into Vunivalu's hands. Cameron Smith misses his second attempt from out wide.

Storm 8-6

42nd min Incredible bat back into the field of play from Papenhuyzen. He leaped from just inside the touch line, and batted it back in mid air, a metre or two outside the field.

Disagree with the Fox commentary, the hole’s only there because of the obstruction. Fair call on a NO try.

46th min Going to video for a try to Storm half Jahrome Hughes. Very easy try, straight through the middle. NO TRY, the bunker disallows it due to obstruction. Didn't look like anyone was obstructed.

Channel Nein commentary box whinging about that. Wish they'd get up to speed with the **** rulebook. He stopped in the line.

I’m sick of the whinging from almost all commentators on obstruction decisions. If you interfere in a defensive line’s ability to set itself unobstructed it doesn’t matter if they could have got there or not.

Yes, very obviously.

Just because Cook had a opportunity to possibly make the tackle, doesn’t mean the attacker wasn’t afforded an unfair advantage due to the obstruction.

Of course they were GE. Instead of being able to shift across in front of the attacker they were left in a position where they had to rush across and had a disrupted line.

I'd like to see less blockers in the game. Any rule that discourages is good IMO.

We really need to see more of Bellamy losing his **** in the coaches box.

Exactly! If we allow that teams will run block plays all day.

There sure is a lot of dropped ball in this game... and some very conservative, boring game plans.

That should have been a penalty or at least 6 again for JAC slowing Latrell

Was zero tackle so I think penalty makes sense

78th min TRY STORM to Justin Olam, good offloads from Welch and Munster set it up... then there were men over out wide. They had a choice of scorers. Smith converts.

Melbourne Storm 22
South Sydney Rabbitohs 8

FULL TIME

Latrell shines but Munster leads Storm to tough win

Cameron Munster and the Storm were able to withstand Latrell Mitchell's best performance in Rabbitohs colours and score a 22-8 win in Friday night's clash.

A concerning error count hampered both teams but a committed defensive effort from Melbourne – who were missing Nelson Asofa-Solomona and had Josh Addo-Carr carrying a rib injury for much of the game – was enough to shut down Souths.

Just announced crowds back as early as next week!

Will presumably be small numbers and start with corporates, be interesting to see how hard they go.
