Interesting discussion today about the new rules leading to more blowout scores. I wonder whether the betting agencies have adjusted their 13+ line odds...
I’ve been talking about this for the last 2 years. The “forward pass crackdown” has been poorly managed (as usual). That pass was fine. Shockingly bad call.

Now they’re arguing about two refs.
News flash a second ref on the field doesn’t change the outcome if the touchie calls it forward...
Ben Ikin trying to back pedal "i wasnt talking about this specific call"
SHut up you fool
Bad call and a tough result for Manly but Parramatta were the better team. Doesnt mean a team should be robbed of the chance to win ugly by a poor call, but that's sport.
Parramatta Eels hold off Sea Eagles to stay unbeaten, with controversial forward pass call costly for Manly
The Parramatta Eels have continued their unbeaten start to the season with a hard-fought 19-16 win over the Sea Eagles on Saturday night.
With Reagan Campbell-Gillard leading the way in some fierce forward exchanges and Mitchell Moses calling the shots in style, the Eels raced to an 18-2 lead early in the second half before Manly launched their fightback.

Ben **** Ikin. Embarrassing. Glad none of the others on the panel accepted his rubbish.
My bet this week was on Manly head to head. They played like garbage but Cummins was '6 againing' Parra in the first half then everytime Parra were slowing down the ruck in defence his yelling 'milking'. And then the forward pass - though I do believe the touchie called it?

I'm really amazed how Shaun Johnson just continues to **** up every conversion attempt he takes yet he's somehow still their first choice kicker

Blake Austin made a great point on Instagram today... if we can tell from the video that a ball went back from the hands, why shouldn't the bunker be used for forward passes? Graham Annesley was certain enough to say the wrong call was made. So use the video! At least allow a challenge!
Nowadays the bunker and referees can rule a penalty try based on whether they thought the player would have scored a try - and we see on a weekly basis players just drop the ball over the line. So why can't they rule on a pass?
While some passes are clearly forward or backward allowing definitive overrules. There are plenty that are distorted by where the camera is. I don’t think the NRL viewer will take kindly to “this one looks back, but the camera angle is too large for certainty sticking with on field ref”.
“Captains challenge” would the the only time I’d be ok with them using the video to adjudicate a forward pass.
The problem with allowing video referees to call forward passes is they’ll spend forever examining tries and it’ll become painful. And they’ll probably get plenty wrong too.
3 years ago, that pass would’ve been let go. The NRL stupidly decided to crack down on forward passes because a few suspect last passes were let go. Most of which had no impact on the outcome, whether they went back, were flat or were forward. That’s not a strong enough reason to crackdown on something, given the history of the NRL refereeing going from one extreme to another.

Not sure but I don't think they have learnt from it. Reports of them trying to sign Dufty. Also reported they offered Corey Thompson 500k a year for 3 years.

I think Corey Thompson is a good professional hard working player who would be a good fit for the Titans. But not at that price.
