That's a decent forward pack. They obviously have some of the best young forwards in the comp - it's just whether they can get enough out of their spine.

I hope not.

Gina Riley: Oh, come on, John. That’s a bit old hat, the corrupt IOC delegate.
John Clarke: Old hat? Gina, in the scientific world when they see that something is happening again and again and again, repeatedly, they don’t call it old hat. They call it a pattern.

It's a much better spine than last year and they still managed to limp into the 8.

Some of those young forwards will be a year better as well.

I’m not writing them off as the semi final kick is exactly what they needed to ensure a good offseason.

They have previously responded well to a bad season.

I don't think they'll be as bad this year as they were last year, unfortunately.

Have one of the strongest depth squads in the comp

Brisbane Broncos make history with Alex Glenn captaincy appointment

In an historic appointment, New Zealand born forward Alex Glenn will become the first non-Queensland player appointed full-time captain of the Broncos in the club's 32-year history, replacing Darius Boyd. The 31-year-old has played 259 NRL games for the club since his first grade debut in 2009.

That's the sort of captaincy appointment you make when you hope someone else better comes along shortly.

I guess so. I've never rated Glenn as a player so I'm biased.

The Broncos want your assets when you cark it. They'd also like your soul, but it is well known that Broncos supporters are soulless.

Whenever I see a new story in the Broncos topic, I click on the heading wondering which drunken idiot had been caught this week.

Very disappointed to find out they just want your money when you die.

I have made a bequest in my will to the Raiders for the purpose of development of junior rugby league in the district. I actually think it is a good idea for clubs to facilitate it, as it wasn't easy working out how to do it. I can't think of a better way to repay my club and my code for what they've done for me.

Brisbane Broncos Matt Lodge in doubt for entire NRL season

Matt Lodge could miss the entire NRL season with a knee injury, with scan results on Wednesday likely to reveal a partial ACL tear.

Lodge suffered the injury at training on Tuesday and is facing an eight-to-nine month lay-off if the worst case scenario is confirmed.

Ignoring his history for a moment he has been very good for them and will be a big loss. Puts a lot of pressure on their young forward pack.

I actually thought they would do quite well this year, but **** the Broncos. Love this text predictor - as soon as I type **** - 'the Broncos' pre-populates.
