30th min TRY TONGA to Michael Jennings. That was a fantastic try, kick ahead could not be covered up by Lachlan Coote and Tonga recover through Lolohea and they score out wide. Converted Siosiua Taukeiaho.

That flick pass in the lead up was very forwards. Great try though

Maybe I've had too many...But they have offered nothing in attack. Only just holding on in Defense

Giving it to Coote to kick on the last is working a treat.

40th min TRY TONGA to Sione Katoa. That is UNBELIEVABLE! Tonga threw a thousand offloads on the last, including after the half time siren. That is ASTOUNDING! This has been a sensational game of rugby league, and Tonga have been outstanding. Taukeiaho on the sideline... and he GOALS!

Great Britain's attack really not up to the mark, early in the second half. Lots of possession and territory, but not making an impact.

62nd min PENALTY GOAL TONGA to Taukeiaho.

That was really a professional foul from Alex Walmsley, taking out Niu in a try scoring situation. Great Britain are just about down for the count.

This is the attack you get with Wayne Bennett as coach too... but Tonga's defence has been great.

70th min TRY GREAT BRITAIN to John Bateman. They're checking the grounding but there is no doubt. He and Hodgson have been the leading lights for the Lions. Converted.

John Bateman was the man of the match on a losing team, IMO. Absolutely terrific. Bateman and Hodgson the top two for Great Britain.

Taukeiaho ran over 250 metres... best for Tonga.

250m is incredible.

I couldn't get coverage over here so just judging of texts and comments- fair to say Hastings was anonymous and GWilly might get the nod?

I believe Great Britain expected to win this... and that the team they fielded was not their strongest.

The spiral of silence refers to the idea that when people fail to speak, the price of speaking rises. As the price to speak rises, still fewer speak out, which further causes the price to rise, so that fewer people yet will speak out, until a whole culture or nation is silenced. This is what happened in Germany.

If you do not speak, you are not being neutral, but are contributing to the success of the thing you refuse to name and condemn.

GBs backs 1-7 are bog.

Coote- when I saw his name on the sheet i was thinking "is it the same guy?"
McGillv- the best wingman in the motherland, he can stay there.
Hardaker- next !!
Oliver Gildart?- we were linked to him remember..good times..he holds his own.
Hall- 40 odd tests for ENG and GB..and shouldn't play another.
Widdop- ok,ok..NRL experience, I don't care..
Hastings- surely his warming the chair for something better ! Like GWILLY

Wheres that great white hope Sam Tompkins ? Now I'm not saying he's any good but im shocked he couldn't make that backline that played last night.

Bateman and CNK continuing their incredible form in internationals (CNK out of position). Bateman was immense last night, I really never thought a second rower could influence a game like he does. My only slightly negative comment on him is that he is not a fast starter and takes a little while to get into the game (but it’s always worth it when he does!). Defensively tough, hard working and has so much spark in attack. What a player. Whitehead was great too - he always makes crucial one on one tackles, and has the skill of a half.

I thought Oliver Gildart looks a good prospect, shame he is injured now. He’s a good mover, great footwork and evasive.

That is a very good Tongan team. Rugby League would do well to find a way to encourage all players to represent their place of birth/heritage. It sucks that the Tongans have to take a massive financial hit to represent Tonga rather than Australia or NZ. Guys like Taumololo might be able to afford it, but it’s a big call for some others to give up the chance for SOO $$ plus test $$. Tonga are the best thing to happen to international RL and it should be priority 1 to ensure Fiji, Samoa and others follow!
