Re: 2019 NRL Finals Week 2 - Teams and Game Day
The spiral of silence refers to the idea that when people fail to speak, the price of speaking rises. As the price to speak rises, still fewer speak out, which further causes the price to rise, so that fewer people yet will speak out, until a whole culture or nation is silenced. This is what happened in Germany.
If you do not speak, you are not being neutral, but are contributing to the success of the thing you refuse to name and condemn.

It'll be weird watching these games that we aren't involved in, but still being alive in the comp

Regardless of both the Rabbits and Manly side we would have to go in as favourites.

They have had two close games this year so hoping for another epic battle. A few grubs involved too so there is judiciary potential.Rick wrote:Regardless of both the Rabbits and Manly side we would have to go in as favourites.

Re: 2019 NRL Finals Week 2 - Teams and Game Day
Interestingly, if the roosters do end up making the grand final it means we won’t play another team this year that we’ve beaten yet.
Re: 2019 NRL Finals Week 2 - Teams and Game Day
I'm in Melbourne at the moment, and it really is quite sad how little attention the game gets here.
In the Herald Sun you have to wade through 10 pages of AFL to finally find a story on the Storm.
In the Age, it's similarly place, a tiny story about Addo-Carr, after a half page spread on the netball.
Neither paper mentioned the Souths v Manly game.
They've long held themselves up as the sports capital of Australia, neigh of the world. But really they are just the AFL capital.

John Clarke: Old hat? Gina, in the scientific world when they see that something is happening again and again and again, repeatedly, they don’t call it old hat. They call it a pattern.

Re: 2019 NRL Finals Week 2 - Teams and Game Day
My (hopeful) predictions for tonight - a ‘grand final’ style match with both teams struggling to stand at the end. The rabbits to take the win by 2, with Sam Burgess on report for a high shot, missing the prelim. Adam Reynolds to tweak his back again, leading to a week of turmoil, with a last minute exit, Adam Douhie to halves, and some random replacing Johnston on the wing, who moves to fullback, only to highlight his actual lack of talent in a spine position next week.
Re: 2019 NRL Finals Week 2 - Teams and Game Day
It's a miracle. DCE has dragged himself from his sick bed, overcoming that nasty virus to play tonight.

Pretty average crowd at Stadium Australia, considering it is an elimination final between two Sydney teams.

The crowd isn't too bad, maybe 20,000... but it gets lost in the Olympic stadium.

Terrible defence from Elliott. Just stood there and let him run over him

Yes, very poor effort. He had 5 metres and a sideline to work with.Makaveli wrote:Terrible defence from Elliott. Just stood there and let him run over him

10th min TRY RABBITOHS to Alex Johnston in the corner, Walker and Sutton set it up. Reynolds misses the conversion. He's missed an earlier penalty goal attempt as well.

Manly lost in defense. Souths creating tries from basic decoy runs
