The NRL is no where near cut throat enough at a coaching level if a hack like Mary McGregor can survive five seasons. Boggles the mind. I know the stakes are obviously a lot lower than comps like the EPL for example, but if he was there he wouldn't get past one season like this given the roster available to him.

This is where the lack of quality elite coaches, which would ideally include international coaches, comes to back to bite the NRL. Also to me a big reason why basically every club plays similar to each other, since there are no coaches coming in from the outside to shake things up and bring new ideas.

I missed Paul McGregors pressa.

Did he reinstate that his Dragqueens could still win the comp ?

It’s a pity they’re so lousy. Could have used a cellar dweller team knocking off Penrith.

Plus now Mary has even more pressure on him. I prefer the status quo where they have no chance of winning the comp because their coach sucks.

Widdop was a huge loss for them but they still have a pretty good pack. I've been saying all year that they dont use Sims or even Frizzell to their advantage - you get either of those two in a 1 on 1 situation on the tryline and they are virtually unstoppable. You see Sims running the **** decoy too often - it doesn't make any sense at all.

I think it's similar to us over the previous couple of years - with the coach constantly making excuses for the losses instead of owning them.

3 great games today which have a bearing on the 8. Hoping for some great rugby league today.

I wish I'd lay bet Jesse Ramien, he has had a stinker.

Roosters get a flurry of possession and put Newcastle to bed. Been a good game.

Rotten decision that last try, knock on everyday of the week! In a positive Anasta has left the commentary box in disgust

The referees continue to be ridiculously inconsistent. Over the past few weeks tries have been awarded when normally a knock on would have been called. Last night To'o scored a try that would have been disallowed at the start of the year because it wasn't clear he got downward pressure.

I hate they’ve gone back to this definition of grounding without control. That’s a knock on for mine.

That Souths one, Gagai was it? I immediately thought of the Sam Williams one - this one wasn't as bad but I agree there wasn't control, same as the To'o one the other night.

Yep that’s the one.

Fricken’ NRL. They do something good and really tidy up that rule and then they just slide back into a Bull interpretation.

I don't get it! They told us earlier in the year that the ball had to be on the ground... otherwise there was no control! Now all of a sudden, the interpretation has changed again! Talk about INCONSISTENCY!

Roosters looked very impressive today. Are now premiership favourites and will be very hard to overcome this year - strong across the 13.Could be a tough premiership year with Storm looking good too

I think they've lost Friend for another 8 weeks. But I'm sure they'll be thereabouts

Cam Smith with a massive clanger to start the game. Pass to nobody and Brenko runs away to score a gift under the posts.

Titans score a 2nd try to go up 12-0. Storm then hit back with Vunivalu going in the corner. Bit of a try fest early.

Lucky they scored this second one straight after the bunker overturned the on field decision for a try. I didn't think there was enough evidence that there was a hand under the ball.

Lose Cronk, lose Slater.... still don't miss a beat. Puts paid to the theory that they made Bellamy

Manly are magnificent at playing so much of their football through their best players. Absolutely deadly through the middle
