Let’s shelve that idea for a while hey! 66-6 against the might of a half strength Cook Islands.... I would have thought a country with such strong rugby union participation could turn out a few leagueys but clearly not!

I work/meet a lot of South Africans over here and league basically doesn't really exist in SA. None of them knew of a comp in their city, certainly not a national comp. They know league exists but basically still don't really believe me when I tell them it's far bigger in Oz than union and a much better game. They're not really interested in it.

The only thing scouts could do is go over and try to tempt a few fringe young players who may/may not be missing out due to quota systems ala cricket but even then- why would they take that risk of a whole new sport they don't like instead of taking rugby union money in the European Union comps where there are far more teams, far more opportunities, less risk and more money?
