Phil Gould haha. I’m all for crediting him when he says insightful things, but my goodness that’s the clearest penalty try you’ll see.

Haha.... no. Did you see him play? He was a pretty good, ball playing second rower in his time - when the game was a lot more brutal. Why do you think he looks like a dropped pie?

How about that NRL conspiracy against the Cowboys? Big, successful teams like the Tigers getting all the calls go their way

It actually proves the point that the refs are hopelessly inconsistent

How on earth was that a penalty try? He hits him high, he retains the ball. Then he strips the ball. Yet the Bunker seemed to think he dropped the ball due to being hit high, and was going to score. But he didn't drop it, the high shot had nothing to do with the strip. Penalty for the high shot yes, but he was no certainty of getting that ball down, as evidenced by it being stripped legally one-on-one.
If that was the actual point people were constantly trying to make on here you'd see a lot less argument about it.

I’ve never said there’s a conspiracy. Unrecognised bias is unrecognised by the officials. In this case, there’s probably not much in the way of star power or club effect in action.
The Tigers probably get more star club effect than you might imagine though, as they’re a Sydney team... while the Cowboys star player/club effect is diminished without Thurston and the further away from a premiership win they are.
The Tigers certainly get a good run on FTA TV and that’s because of numbers of viewers in western Sydney... they have a “big following” when I have previously asked the NRL CEO why there’s such a disparity between the Raiders and Tigers on FTA TV. They’re a bit of a train wreck off field, except for the Magpies half... and have fluked one premiership since 1969... and don’t get big crowds through the gates. But they’re still “big” as they’re important to broadcast deal dollars due to Nine viewers in western Sydney.
The Cowboys used to get a dud FTA TV deal as a regional club that Nine doesn’t care much for. But they have got a better deal of late, given the star power of Thurston, a recent premiership and being one of two successful Queensland teams. But that’s now diminishing.
I thought that there was going to be more equity in TV game distribution once the NRL took over scheduling. That and the abolition of 5 day turnarounds, which generally work in the favor of the teams that are allocated the most Thurs and Friday games.

If the officials are showing bias to the Tigers when at a game in Townsville because of Channel 9 viewers in Western Sydney Ill deadset give it away.

I won't be satisfied until every side gets roughly the same amount of games, and why shouldn't they? Bulldogs get more than double what our club does - they've been irrelevant for a few years now.

Because there was an illegal act in scoring a try, where the attacking player ended up on the try line.
No certainty in anything, the penalty try rule does not have to be 100%, it obviously can’t be. It just has to be in the referees opinion that if not for an illegal act, a try would’ve been scored. Of which I think is pretty clear.

But what about the strip? It's as if they are looking at the incident like the Jamie Ainscough high tackle penalty try in the 1999 Melbourne Grand Final Win. The only reason that player dropped it was because of the head high shot.
In this case he didn't drop it, it was stripped. I agree that it would be a penalty try if he dropped it immediately after being hit in the head. The fact he held onto it after the high shot, and the ball only came out after being legally stripped, should mean it wasn't a penalty try. Penalty yes, try no.

Panthers 19 defeated Rabbitohs 18.
That's probably a good result for us. Knights loss probably also a good result for us.

Munster masterclass as Storm shut down Knights
Another Cameron Munster masterclass has helped the Melbourne Storm maintain their place at the top of the Telstra Premiership ladder with a clinical 34-4 victory over the Newcastle Knights on Saturday afternoon.
Panthers five-eighth James Maloney made his case for a Blues Origin recall with a composed display and a match-winning field goal in a 19-18 win over the Rabbitohs at ANZ Stadium on Saturday night.
Broncos getting smoked by Parra! I hate both teams, but seeing the Donkeys lose to the Titans last week and the Eels this week is fantastic.
Might also make the Eels over-confident against us in a few weeks. They've been hot and cold all year.

Just tuned in to see Oates set up a try for Gower under the posts, Seibold storm to the dressing rooms with minutes to go and Isaako miss an easy shot at penalty goal... what is happening?

I haven’t watched the incident yet. But I’d have to imagine being hit in the head makes him more susceptible to being stripped

That Oates try assist was one of the greatest rugby league moments of the year. And then to miss the penalty kick on half time. Thank you Parramatta and thank you Brisbane.

He was assisted from the field and it really looked like he had no idea where he was. He was totally out of it.

Eels blow Broncos away with brilliant display at home
Parramatta redeemed themselves after a 20-point humiliation by the Sharks a week ago to hand the hapless Broncos a 28-point drubbing at Bankwest Stadium seven days later. The 38-10 win was the fourth time the Eels have scored more than 30 points this season.
Teams going coast to coast and back with long shifts on the regular this round. Going to the edges early. Then right back across next play. Pamfers and Eels both seemed to be doing it.
Is this a new trend?
I don't normally watch a lot of non Raiders footy so not sure... Doesn't seem to be in our playbook despite having good edges...
