That's true. Was made all the more obvious when Walker was replaced by... Jack Wighton.

I can't tell if we're still joking or I'm really being asked to justify freddie's actions vs the history of blues decisions.

I'm just pointing out how the Blues selectors have always had a problem with racism, not really commenting on Fittler.

Re: 2019 State of Origin I: Queensland V New South Wales
Nathan Merritt ? Geez i hope you're joking.
He was so obviously unsuited to perform at Origin level, was rightly overlooked for years until he was finally given a shot due to media pressure and absolutely stunk the place up (as everyone with a clue knew he would). And then rightly never played again.
Latrell was horrendous in game 1 and it turned out to be a masterstroke to replace him. Freddie was spot on there.

Merritt was rubbish, and was rightfully found out as such when he got pickedThe Nickman wrote:Nathans Blacklock and Merritt say hi.

That doesn't make a racist... not like defending NSW selection policies, anyway.

Yes it does, haven't you read Twitter?!

This is some of your worst Nick. I'm not sure if you are trying to be funny, but you've missed the mark if you are. If you're not then you're just a wanker.
NSW has a long history of selecting indigenous players. Not selecting mediocre indigenous players to play origin, and dropping under performing indigenous players doesn't make them racist, particularly when the most recent coach identifies as being indigenous.
Implying that Filter is racist for dropping Mitchell for the abortion of a game that he had in Game 1 is one of your lowest posting moments. And there is some tough competition.

No doubt his baiting, but I think he can do better than baiting by accusing people of racist. It's pretty poor.

Re: 2019 State of Origin I: Queensland V New South Wales
Has that ever been in dispute?
Agree though deliberate false racism accusations are almost as bad as racism itself, it detracts from true racism, cheapens it.

While we’re on the topic of racism, the NRL Indigenous advisory group is recommending that the national anthem be scrapped from all non-international games.
I’ve been saying this for years, but simply because it’s an overperformed, unnecessary waste of time.

I have no problem with that either, I've never understood why they play it before an Origin.yeh raiders wrote: ↑December 11, 2019, 10:28 am https://wwos.nine.com.au/nrl/national-a ... cial-NRLFS

Re: 2019 State of Origin I: Queensland V New South Wales
Every single club game during the Anzac weekend has it. I get it, it’s meant as a celebration/acknowledgement of the country and sacrifices, but people are there to watch footy. It’s club vs club, not Australia vs another country.
The “Last Post” is all that’s called for.
I honestly reckon it’s because someone had the grand idea of extending it across all available formats that involve a formalised pre-game build-up and saying “no” to it would’ve been too “outrageous”!
How-dare-you level outrage!
Where does it end? Hopefully soon.

Considering it's now such a divisive song for our indigenous community I'm happy for it to never be sung again, to be perfectly honest.

Re: 2019 State of Origin I: Queensland V New South Wales
Totally agree we should reserve national anthems for international events. To play it at any major domestic event is an Americanism we don't need.
As for it being divisive I understand it only comes down to one word. The Aboriginal community want it changed to "We are strong and free". I've got no issue with that and to be honest I think that's a much better line anyway.
Sort it out.
