The Panthers club politics probably rightly concluded he couldn’t take the team to the next level.

Except for obviously the fact that he’s got a career coaching record of 55% wins, has made the finals 6 out of 7 seasons and has never been sacked due to his own performance, yeah.... nobody has presented any facts

I'm not refuting your facts. I'm simply asking who the better options are. You've told us they exist so it couldn't be that difficult a question to answer.

You know what I'm hoping... that the Titans snare Queensland Maroons coach Kevin Walters! Get it done Titans!

Well he's coached as many premierships as Griffin.

Griffin has had shots at two clubs, one at one of the biggest clubs in the league, with the most money at their disposal. Couldn't do it. Time to give Kevvie a shot as an NRL head coach! Queensland will have to find a new coach, but that is a sacrifice the Maroons will just have to make.

Fairly confident the Titans won't be appointing a premiership winning coach.

Griffin or Toovie for mine. If we were after a coach tomorrow, of those available I'd be chasing Toovey.

I might apply.

I'll have to give the wire mill 2 weeks notice.

On Nine News, they were saying John Ribot is behind the idea, with eight home games in Brisbane... and maybe not at Lang Park.

NRL Tonight saying that Tim Sheens might be in line for the coach's job.

poor if true, it just needs a top to bottom club rebuild.
They've got talent they just look like they need quality staff in those key positions.
A strong coach like Kevvy who can bring some QLD clout with fans and corporate. A strong recruitment and juniors manager. Stop all the talent drain out of that area.
Don't walk, fight back!

Ironic if Ribot is behind it, given that he was the Angel of Death for the Crushers and the original GC team.

It's a bad idea. It will piss off the GC fans and won't capture any new Brisbane fans.

Relocations don't work. They need a hard **** to come in and improve the fundamental structures of the club. I don't think much of Griffin but he might actually be what the club needs.

It's a taboo phrase but they need a 5 to 10 year plan.

John Cartwright said he originally went after players the community could like but made a huge mistake not having a gun recruitment guy and the talent exodus along with the off field qualities all fell away

I thought he did a good job up there until he recruited Greg Bird.

The NRL need another club in Brisbane... but they also need a successful team on the Gold Coast. Surely the NRL would not accept that.

Serious question, has there ever been a relocation in NRL?

Wests Magpies to Campbelltown. North Sydney Bears to Gosford. Effectively Dragons to Wollongong. That’s about all I can think of.

Billy Moore saying on NRL 360 last night that they should align themselves with the Burleigh Bears and merge with the North Sydney Bears.

I like it. Would give them a strong leagues club/financial base, maintain the support of the gc community and gain the support of the North Sydney fans. Could play one or two games a year in North Sydney.

I'd love to see the bears back.

They’ll never be successful playing at Robina. And they’re obviously stuck there whilever they’re a GC team.

The idea has merit. I'm not going to think too hard about it as I doubt it will happen. Would be too many alternate agendas in play.

For a GC team to be successful they simply have to be competitive on the field. To do that they need to a highly professional attitude to the football component. Otherwise it will continue to be treated like a paid holiday by the players.

So of those
- Bears played 1 year in Gosford, before merging to Manly*
- Dragons to Wollongong, mainly due to the merger with Illawarra
- Magpies I’ll give you, but I’m assuming the relocation was from one part of Sydney to another

I think looking at that, there’s no proof that relocation doesn’t work. If anything, I would say Dragons and Magpies were successes. Bears we’ll never know because they were forced to merge before you could see if the Central Coast took them on proper.

Then you look at AFL with the Lions and Swans. All of the relocations in the NBA and NFL. I can’t see proof yet that relocations don’t work

*Working on an assumption, because Gosford stadium was built 1999 and Northern Eagles formed 2000

The Bears decided to relocate to Gosford, but never played there as the Bears. The Stadium was delayed in completion due to weather or some such thing. They went broke before the Stadium was finished.
