The spiral of silence refers to the idea that when people fail to speak, the price of speaking rises. As the price to speak rises, still fewer speak out, which further causes the price to rise, so that fewer people yet will speak out, until a whole culture or nation is silenced. This is what happened in Germany.

If you do not speak, you are not being neutral, but are contributing to the success of the thing you refuse to name and condemn.

He has been desperate for a NRL gig for years. He'd be crazy to turn it down. There was a rumour that he had turned it down in the hope of landing the Broncos gig after Siebold... But just a rumour.

I bet Brennan thought the same when he was looking for an NRL gig

Brennan came from the clouds to land the gig last time. They might be a bit gun shy about taking too much of a risk again. From a results perspective the safest option would be Griffin. Walters or Toovey are high profile personalities that could give them a suger hit. How long they could sustain it is the question. Trent Barrett is still unproven as a head coach and not convinced he could turn that club around. Had more talent at the Sea Eagles and didn't achieve much.

I'd like to see the Walker brothers given a shot. They were seriously considered last time round before Brennan jumped the queue. They've had the Jets consistently competitive in the QLD Cup for a number of years now, and thats without any significant support of an NRL club.

It's gotta be someone that has had a successful 1st grade head coach gig before. Trying out another newbie they might as well just fold.

If I were the Titans I would ABSOLUTELY go with Anthony Griffin. He's a proven head coach with a pretty good track record and you'd have to say he's been moved along from both his previous roles due to personalities at the club rather than his own coaching ability.

EDIT: To clarify this further, he was moved on from the Broncos because they wanted Bennett back and it seems he was shuffled along by the Panthers so Gould could make a play at Cleary snr to keep Cleary jnr on the books. Neither of those situations are remotely his fault.

What are you basing that on?? He's got a career W/L record of 55%! In seven seasons coaching in the NRL he's made the finals six times.

What a ridiculous statement. I'd KILL for a coach with a record like that.

Going to be limited options if they are only considering premiership winning coaches.

Correct. Brisbane so they could get Bennett back and Panthers so they could get Cleary snr and help them keep Cleary jnr.

And you know why? Griffin has only taken a team to a preliminary final once. Never a Grand Final. Mostly amongst the also ranks. The clubs did not believe he could get to a Grand Final, let alone a premiership. This is why even the Titans should steer a wide berth.

How many of the current coaches have won one? Off the top of my head, it wouldn’t be 50% of the current list.

My heart would like to see the Walker brothers have a go, but the head is saying it will be Griffin. As it’s been said, he’s only been released due to club politics. He was cut from a finals bound Penrith team.
