Re: Penrith Panthers 2019
Pretty Sure Tamou will have to interchange onto the field from the bench every time the referee calls the captain out
either that or DWZ vice captain
either that or DWZ vice captain
Would have won Boogs - 2016, 2017, 2018

Re: Penrith Panthers 2019
Maybe Tamou can run along the sideline with a bullhorn and whiteboard for interacting with the ref.

And it did help!
Gina Riley: Oh, come on, John. That’s a bit old hat, the corrupt IOC delegate.
John Clarke: Old hat? Gina, in the scientific world when they see that something is happening again and again and again, repeatedly, they don’t call it old hat. They call it a pattern.

Feel free to retire from commentating, but I’d like to see him mess up some non-Raider clubs into the future.
Re: Penrith Panthers 2019
Just for pure comedy value I'd like to see him end up at Newcastle to death ride Brown for a year or Souths as a buddy comedy with Bennett.
But if he goes to Sharks he really might be able to snuff them out of all existence, how many more shots can they take?

Re: Penrith Panthers 2019
Not sure where all of this hate comes from, to be honest. He walked into a team that was an absolute shambles - coached by Matthew Elliott, paying huge money for Michael Jennings, Petro Civoniceva and Luke Lewis. The club itself was on the brink of bankruptcy, and had a horrible junior program in place. He fixed the club to the point that they made a preliminary final, the second week of the finals a few times, and currently have a bunch of Panthers juniors as starters. Premierships are damn hard to win, particularly for clubs that aren't given crazy advantages like the Storm, Roosters and Broncos (in terms of TPAs and the like). Judging his tenure by failure to win a premiership is a harsh barometer. I think he has done a good job at the Panthers - even though his appointment of Griffin was curious to say the least.

He's really not that bad. Passionate and extremely knowledgeable. I like anybody who loves the game as much as he does.

Re: Penrith Panthers 2019
Gould pulled them out of the **** several years ago. Past his use by date now. He was able to turn them around when they lacked leadership. Since then his meddling with the coaching and football matters has become a hindrance. Sacking the coach last year while the team was challenging for a top 4 spot was unforgivable.

Re: Penrith Panthers 2019
He has incredible football smarts and analytics. But he also has massive agendas of his own, and not all of them are consistent with the good of rugby league. He's also not a very nice person. So it is no wonder he's not liked much.
Re: Penrith Panthers 2019
He HAD incredible football smarts and analytics.
I've seen nothing in his time there except to squander what is IMO, the most naturally gifted team in the league.
He had a 5 year plan, i've heard that too many times. It's the calling card of a guy cashing a pay cheque. There are no five year plans unless you're a pensioner. They're right to turf him, and they'll be better for it if they replace him with someone competent but even if they do, the Cleary situation looms over the entire franchise... they both got what they wanted and now the bill is coming due.

A bold and terribly bad take. The junior system never went anywhere, it was always there. Granted Matt Elliott wasnt a huge endorser of it (or any, as we well know) but the talent was always there. The idea that Gould fixed the largest RL catchment area in the world is... frankly absurd.
Re: Penrith Panthers 2019
He has been credited numerous times by impartial sources (and others that, frankly, dislike him) for his work with the junior pathways and, in particular, the focus on playmakers in their academy. Having not appeared in an under 20s GF before Gould, they then appeared in 2013, 2015, and 2016 (with two minor premierships in 2015 and 2016). A huge number of their players in those squads went on to play NRL. Juniors isn't just about the number of people in the area. I found this from a quick search in a 2017 article:PigRickman wrote: ↑April 23, 2019, 11:46 pmI stopped there.TongueFTW wrote: ↑April 23, 2019, 9:16 pm Not sure where all of this hate comes from, to be honest. Re: Penrith Panthers 2019
Remember last year when Anthony Griffin had the Panthers in 5th posi a month out from finals ?
Then Gus taps him on the shoulder with a "we are heading in another direction" spiel...
Good times !!!

The sooner they get rid of Maloney the better
He's been absolute garbage this year, and has resorted to being a grub to make up for it

They were deliberately targeting John Bateman with illegal play, IMO. Grubby.
