29th min Going to video for a possible England try to Oliver Gildart. McGilvary is ruled to have knocked on in the corner. It was very smart play from England after the break down, but it was all to no avail.

33rd min TRY NEW ZEALAND to Issac Liu, set up by Nikorima. The England defence found wanting there... England have had so many missed opportunities, but the Kiwis are taking theirs. Johnson converts.

England 12-0

At Wrexham, Wales are in again and lead 26-4 five minutes into the second half.

Are we not getting worried about Bateman's defence? He seems to be having all sorts of issues with the smaller guys.

Son, we live in a world that has forums, and those forums have to be guarded by Mods. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Nickman? I have a greater responsibility than you can possibly fathom. You weep for Lucy, and you curse GE. You have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what I know -- that GE’s moderation, while tragic, probably saved lives; and my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, keeps threads on track and under the appropriately sized, highlighted green headings.
You want moderation because deep down in places you don't talk about at parties, you want me on that forum -- you need me on that forum. We use words like "stay on topic," "use the appropriate forum," "please delete." We use these words as the backbone of a life spent defending something. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very moderation that I provide and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather that you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise, I suggest you get a green handle and edit a post. Either way, I don't give a DAMN what you think about moderation.

39th min TRY NEW ZEALAND to Kodi Nikorima. Stunning try, Nikorima makes a good run, offloads to Johnson and then backs up for the try in quick time. All of a sudden the score blows out. Johnson converts from in front. Not much partying at Leeds for the crowd.

New Zealand 18-0

HALF TIME

Wales lead 28-4 in the 55th minute at Wrexham, after a penalty goal.

44th min TRY NEW ZEALAND to Ken Maumalo, his second of the match! Great kick to the corner from Nikorima and it is an easy take for Maumalo. England are in tatters. Johnson fails to convert from out wide, hits the goal post.

New Zealand 22-0

At Wrexham Wales lead Ireland 32-8 with 13 minutes remaining.

57th min The Kiwis now obstruct Makinson after the bomb to the corner... penalty England. Hodgson nearly goes over, but he's short. Flop from Waerea Hargreaves and he's immediately sent to the sin bin.

European Championship

FULL TIME

Wales 40

Wales qualify for World Cup 2021!

Wales qualify for Rugby League World Cup

Wales became the tenth team to qualify for the 2021 Rugby League World Cup in England after they pushed aside Ireland 40-8 in Wrexham on Sunday.

It was a role reversal from a year ago to the day, where Wales were easily second best to their Celtic neighbours in Perth, Australia in both nations’ final game of the 2017 World Cup. However this time around, it always looked like that there was only going to be one winner as the Welsh put in a dominant performance.

Wales 40

Tries: Butler (4), Lloyd (18), Bennion (28), Evans (44), Williams (64), Ralph (69)
Goals: Olds 8/10

Ireland 8

Tries: Grix (34). McNally (66)
Goals: Finn 0/2

69th min TRY NEW ZEALAND to Jesse Bromwich, again it is set up by Nikorima. He is surely man of the match. It is under the posts and just too easy. Converted by Shaun Johnson.

72nd min England forced into a line drop out. And the short drop kick doesn't go the 10m. This is intensely disappointing for England. New Zealand elect to go for the try.

TRY NEW ZEALAND to Joe Tapine under the posts! Papalii converts.

England win the Baskerville Shield, 2-1.

Nikorima stars as Kiwis cane England

New Zealand have avoided a series whitewash in dominating fashion with a crushing 34-0 victory over England in the third and final Test at Elland Road in Leeds on Sunday (Monday morning AEDT).

Kodi Nikorima was everywhere for the Kiwis to help guide the side to an 18-0 lead at half-time and the one-way traffic continued into the second with the record-breaking crowd of 32,186 silenced for most of the contest. Despite conceding the series in the second Test, the Kiwis' attitude was on song from the opening set on Remembrance Day and with England having three disallowed tries, New Zealand's lead never looked under threat.

You know it is England as winter approaches... in complete darkness just after 5pm local time at Leeds.

The Raiders men in the England team look disappointed, as does the whole team in red and white. Tommy Makinson now goes to the dias to accept the award for player of the series. And now the England players go to accept their medals for the series win. Whitehead, Hodgson and Bateman sticking together.

Now James Graham and O'Loughlin accept the Baskerville Shield. The flame throwers are let loose, as are the champagne bottles.

And that is all we have for tonight! Thanks for following.

If you're still up... you can now catch the delayed broadcast of Wales V Ireland on Fox League Channel 502.

New Canberra Raiders forward John Bateman eyes more England Tests

New Canberra Raiders recruit John Bateman says he would jump at the chance to play for England again if coach Wayne Bennet gets his wish for a mid-season Test in the old dart.

"One hundred per cent," he said. "I can't see why people wouldn't want to play for their country. I know it's long travel but playing for your country is one of the proudest things you can do and I'd do it week in, week out if I could. It's a special occasion and you want to embrace it. It doesn't last forever."

Bateman will start training with Canberra on January 4.
