Yes, they should. There's no excuse not to. I've got to say that if it were an Australian video referee in the box, the England winning try would have been disallowed. No control and lost in grounding IMO.Roger Kenworthy wrote: ↑November 5, 2018, 10:10 am If the international game is the pinnacle then surely games between top tier nations should have neutral officials.

Wayne Bennett calls for more Test matches after England clinch series over Kiwis
WAYNE Bennett wants to see more elite international rugby league in the future. Bennett has called on the Rugby League International Federation, who meet this week in York, to push international rugby league to the forefront. “Australia do what they want to do,” the England coach said.
“We’ll be in that part of the world next year playing Test matches. It may not be against Australia. We’ve had a great crowd here today and they were right behind the boys. Tonga’s done some wonderful things and Samoa, we’ve just got to keep building on it. Try and get the politics out of it. The players just want to play and these guys have given so much.

Bit more grist for the mill there.

Not necessarily, what if our friend Patten was in the box? Anything can still happen.greeneyed wrote:Yes, they should. There's no excuse not to. Players should be released to play first tier internationals no doubt. As long as they’re not Mickey Mouse games in say... Denver for example. There is benefit to the club in the players having experience in high profile games, since Raiders players aren’t playing a lot of finals or origin...
But the international teams certainly need to start taking player welfare more seriously. Rapana subluxing/dislocating his shoulder should have seen him removed from the field.

Think there needs to be a shorter NRL season, and have a proper International window. Might fix this fatigue issue

Any word on what the problem is with Rapana? I've read wrist injury, forearm, even shoulder. The Greenhouse wrote: ↑November 5, 2018, 2:13 am 69th min Whitehead is having a great game... England nearly go over the final pass is astray. Jordan Rapana looks like he's in trouble again with that shoulder. He's on the ground again. Rapana's tackle saves the try. He's in a lot of pain and he goes off, clutching his right forearm.

It looks to be dislocated shoulder.
Ironically, Superstars of League today on Fox League is focussed on Jordan Rapana. Raiders matches for most of the day.

I'd pick Tapine as a starting second rower for sure but Maguire didn't select him for the win over the kangaroos as his injury still wasn't 100% and then showed some loyalty to the guys that got the job done(although blair was ruled out for game 1 against England which meant Tapine got a bench spot)
He's a far better player than Kenny Bromwich but Bromwich plays/covers hooker for 20 odd minutes a game when Brandon Smith needs a rest.

Canberra Raiders sweat on scans of Jordan Rapana's injured right shoulder
Canberra is sweating on scans on winger Jordan Rapana's right shoulder after he appeared to dislocate it twice in New Zealand's 20-14 rugby league Test loss to England.
Rapana is believed to have left Anfield with his right arm in a sling after he was injured twice in the match, the first while trying to score a try and the second attempting to save one. Canberra players are away in a pre-season camp but on Monday afternoon were yet to hear the diagnosis, with hopes the try-scoring machine won't miss the start of the 2019 NRL season.
