The spiral of silence refers to the idea that when people fail to speak, the price of speaking rises. As the price to speak rises, still fewer speak out, which further causes the price to rise, so that fewer people yet will speak out, until a whole culture or nation is silenced. This is what happened in Germany.

If you do not speak, you are not being neutral, but are contributing to the success of the thing you refuse to name and condemn.

6th min TRY KANGAROOS to Daly Cherry Evans. Havili throws a loose pass and Cherry Evans picks it up and runs 40m to score under the posts. Hingano overruns and can't get a touch on Cherry Evans before he sets sail. Valentine Holmes converts

10th min Tonga finally get into the red zone. Hingano kicks ahead on the last but Cherry Evans defuses it easily... and Tonga give away a penalty. It's been a poor start from Tonga, unfortunately.

11th min TRY KANGAROOS to Tom Trbojevic. Hingano misses the tackle on James Tedesco, and he makes a huge break, with Trbojevic backing up for the try. Hingano may still be suffering from the injury to his left shoulder/arm, but it is a bad miss. Valentine Holmes converts from the sideline.

16th min TRY TONGA to Tevita Pangai Junior! There's a huge hole for him and it is a great offload from Hingano to set it up! The hole was as big as the Sydney Harbour heads! The referee was the only body close to TPJ. The crowd goes wild. Sio Siua Taukeiaho converts from in front.

Tongan forwards need to muscle up better in defence. Australia making far too many easy metres. But a good response from Tonga.

18th min Fifita knocks on, first tackle from the kick off. Not required. Tonga survive the set in the red zone... and Keary's kick on the last is easily defused in goal.

21st min Tonga get to the red zone in one set, but Havili's kick on the last is easily defused by Australia. This game is really opening up, and Australia is struggling when Tonga gets a roll on with the ball in hand.

Now Michael Jennings loses the ball on the first tackle for Tonga. They are cruelling themselves with their errors.

26th min TRY KANGAROOS to Valentine Holmes. Tonga is just giving too much possession to the Kangaroos, with under 60 per cent completions. Tonga's right edge clinically exposed there, with Holmes running back in field to score. He converts his own try.

29th min TRY KANGAROOS to Tom Trbojevic. Australia run it on the last tackle, this time down their right side. The Tongan line was broken and Australia had men on. It was too easy. Valentine Holmes converts.
