Tommy turbo has no idea defensively. Maybe because he's not a centre?
The spiral of silence refers to the idea that when people fail to speak, the price of speaking rises. As the price to speak rises, still fewer speak out, which further causes the price to rise, so that fewer people yet will speak out, until a whole culture or nation is silenced. This is what happened in Germany.

If you do not speak, you are not being neutral, but are contributing to the success of the thing you refuse to name and condemn.

34th min TRY TONGA to Daniel Tupou in the corner! It's a stunning try and the opportunity is opened up by the Kangaroos' disjointed defensive line. Sio Siua Taukeiaho on the sideline... can't convert.

37th min Australia's Valentine Holmes knocks on... but there's a VERY late call for off side. That's very lucky for Australia.

Havili not looking well, after his head clashed with a hip in a tackle... and then the ground.

40th min TRY KANGAROOS to Valentine Holmes right on the stroke of half time. They get it wide on the last tackle. The referee is checking for obstruction, then a possible eight point try for contact on Holmes when he scores. No obstruction. Doesn't look like an eight point try either.

Tevita Pangai Junior makes contact with the head of Holmes... and it looks like a complete accident. Nothing TPJ could have done to pull out of that. But it is on report... and a possible eight point try.

Holmes misses the conversion attempt from out wide, but gets the extra two points from in front.

HALF TIME

Australian Kangaroos 30
Mate Ma'a Tonga 10

Possible 8 point try. Slater did that sort of thing several times a game and got away with it every single time.

I think it is pretty rough when Holmes has come inside so much. I think Pangai could argue that he was setting himself to make the tackle five metres closer to the sideline.

Tonga should have played PNG or Fiji last week to get some match fitness. Some of their players havent played for almost two months....and both halves have not played first grade for half the year

46th min And now another line drop out forced on Australia. And a penalty to Tonga as well now. Why, oh why, do the referees refuse to allow teams to take quick penalty taps?

Penalised for sure hence it became illegal. And cited in 2010 and 2013 off the top of my head.
Hayne was also cited for samething in pre-lim but allowed to play gf.

That tackle existed before Slater (d peachey i remember) and will happen again. Its a play trying to get under the ball.....the intention isnt grubby.....like pulling stitches out someones face

The crowd is singing... perhaps praying for a try! Three penalties in a row now for Tonga... the referee says next penalty, there'll be a Kangaroo in the bin.

Halves is a depth/quality issue. It's actually reflective of the NRL at the moment. All size no skill

50th min TRY TONGA to Solomone Kata! Here's the try! The referee goes to the bunker, checking for a completely non existent knock on in the lead up. It's confirmed. The crowd sings again. Lolohea converts.
