Where do you see Qld needing to improve next year GE? Backs look good but short a forward or 2? Not sold on McCulloch at this level.greeneyed wrote: ↑July 11, 2018, 10:11 pm Great to see the Queensland spirit come through for the greatest rugby league State! They did it for Billy Slater. Great work. Queensland are rebuilding but the idea that there’s a NSW “dynasty” on the horizon is ridiculous.
Congratulations to NSW winning the series. And here’s to Queensland winning the next 10 in a row!

I imagine Queensland will blood a few new forwards next year. They'd be wanting replacements for Cooper and Wallace at a minimum

Wasn’t he poor. Got too many minutes and too many soft carries this series. He looked better in game 2, I thought it had clicked for him, but unfortunately not the case. Capped it off tonight by failing to convert a big chance late in the game.
For a player of his physique, he should’ve had a bigger impact in a very tiring game.
I’d have no issue with him dropping back to the extended 40 man squad.

Congrats the Blues on the series win. They really should let the team who wins lift the shield at home if possible. Strange rule really.
Well done QLD on the win in Game three - couple of calls go the other way and it's another series win.
Both teams will be better next year. Fittler's inexperience in the coaches box hurt the blues tonight, he'll be better for the run too.
Some pretty funny dumb plays tonight too - Sims tackling the marker and Klemmer with the trip provided two good laughs.
Can't see this blues dynasty Gould promised with this team. QLD will get some players back next year most likely, (Gillett, Scott, Morgan, Ponga and possibly Inglis) with a fit team think it'll be a reversal of this years result.

NSW were arrogant as usual. They claimed they were getting out the broom, claimed it would be a clean sweep. Guess what? Queensland spirit said... NO!

He only played two game, there’s no way he should have got MOTS.Makaveli wrote:Slater man of the series having played twice in a losing team. That'll do me

Slater man of the series. Plays 2 games, loses 1 and was barely dangerous tonight, completely contained except for 1 try at the end.
Damien Cook robbed.
Re: 2018 State of Origin III: Queensland V New South Wales
Slater man of the series in a series that Queensland lost, and which he only played 2 games... Fair dinkum, that's worse than Thurston's fairytale Clive Churchill in 2015 - at least his team won! Just give Slater a special award for retiring to avoid this kind of stitch up.
Maloney, Tedesco or Cook were man of the series for me

It will get revised up, it was more like 35 mins. Stint 1 was 20 and stint 2 was 15.Billy Walker wrote: ↑July 11, 2018, 10:10 pmStats are ok for the limited time. Would 26 mins been anywhere near what they wanted from him? Seems low minutes?
He was very strong. His first stint in particular helped set up QLDs dominant first half.

If any team needs a broom it's the commentary team. It was just awkward when Fatty got excited Hunt was on after he had been on 10 minutes already. Rabs and Gus need to be put in a home. Gal - why? Wally - nah.. big broom please Channel 9

I missed Billy Slater winning man of the series! Wally Lewis Medal. What an outstanding result! What a great player he's been over a long, long time.

Why is Simms smiling - he is the only player out there who hasn't won an origin and he really contributed to the loss with his brain snap.

Well done to Billy Slater, captaining the Maroons to a win!

That game was set up for a creative utility to come on at the end and carve up all the tired legs. Peachy added nothing. NSW needed Blake Austin....

Cleary will take that loss on the chin. In fact he could take a season of losses on that chin and still have room to grow a flavour saver.

Thought Billy was quite selfish in the first half looking for a fairytale try. It wasn’t until he put Gagai on the outside that he had a real impact.

Bit embarrassing for Loz. Locky and Loz chose MOTS. Can understand Locky leaning that way but it says a bit Loz either didn't or couldn't talk sense to him.KingDynamite wrote: ↑July 11, 2018, 10:42 pm Thought Billy was quite selfish in the first half looking for a fairytale try. Congratulations to the Maroons for winning tonight and seeing off the champion Billy Slater with a final Rep match win.
Huge congratulations to NSW for winning the series with a New Coach with new ideas and a mostly new side.
Without taking anything away from Qld tonight, I thought NSW gave them a leg up with two dumb plays. Qld had more than 60% possession in the first half largely due to the high number of repeat sets they skillfully put on. So possession was all important for NSW in the second half. First with the Blues in possession we had Sims tackle the marker. Dumb play. Then with NSW attacking on the Qld line Klemmer puts on a trip right in front of the referee with an opportunity to the right squandered. Even Dumber play. Giving away penalties when in possession is a result of ill disciplined play. To do so in the context of this match when Qld had so much first half ball is handing the game to the cane toads. They had the penalties going the way of the home side. They had a touch judge imagining NSW going into touch when clearly they did not. So Qld are then gifted extra possession by the Blues?? Freddy will think about this before next years series I'm sure.

Now, time to move on from Kevin Walters as Queensland coach... we need a coach who is much more ruthless and has better match strategies. Love him as a former Raider... but Queensland really has to move on to a coach who will win the next series.
