Penrith Panthers confirm return of Ivan Cleary

Ivan Cleary says "unfinished business" was behind his decision to return to Penrith after securing a release from the remaining two years of his contract with Wests Tigers.

The Panthers confirmed Cleary had signed a five-year deal with the club and would take charge when players commence pre-season training on November 12.

Anyone else thinking this is a bit sus? The father and son wanting to play for each other, while cute and feel-good, is a bit weird to me.

I don’t know, the cynic in me is thinking this is a salary cap rort in the making. How much of Ivan’s paycheque will Nathan wind up getting?

You thinking we should see if Cooper Cronk’s dad would like to coach the Raiders Fui?

Was Ivan sacked by Gould at the end of 2015 " cuz the club needed to go in a different direction" ?

Enter Hook Griffin who in 2018 had the Panthers sitting 5th about 5 weeks? out from finals was sacked by Gould"cuz the club needed to go in a different direction".

And now Cleary is back....

This article says Gould let him go because he wasn’t tough enough on the players

https://www.google.com.au/amp/s/au.spor ... 23619.html

For some reason, I remember him being let go because he needed a break. Pressure of performing was too much or something.

Fui... you're correct. That's what Gould said at the time.

James Fisher-Harris signs new Penrith Panthers deal

Penrith is delighted to announce James Fisher-Harris has agreed to a three-year contract extension with the club. The new deal means the 22-year-old forward will remain with Panthers until at least the end of the 2022 season.

"I'm really excited and grateful for the club to give me this opportunity," Fisher-Harris said.
