Gosh that was stupid

Man that was such an indiscriminate touch... our game over refereed sometimes

Re: 2018 NRL Round 9: Teams and Game Day
I’ve never been more saddened by what the NRL has become in my life. The NRL have lost the plot. The blokes in the bunker are horrendous.
Re: 2018 NRL Round 9: Teams and Game Day
Of course the game had to end with a Broncos penalty right in front. What a **** joke this is.

Wow I’ve seen Raiders players in support have their jersey cleanly grabbed in back play without a hint of a penalty. They may claim it’s been consistent all season but it hasn’t.
Also McCullough was clearly not Square at marker late in the game but the refs weren’t going to penalise Broncos in the second half if it could decide the match.

On top of the ridiculous array of calls the broncos got earlier in the night.

Re: 2018 NRL Round 9: Teams and Game Day

“Now we’re off to the footy show ...”
Yeah good luck with that

Re: 2018 NRL Round 9: Teams and Game Day
This is a game decided by the referees. Mbye send to the bin. Broncos win with a penalty in front. Correct decision at the end, but the earlier horrible call was decisive.
Broncos 22
Bulldogs 20
FULL TIME

Re: 2018 NRL Round 9: Teams and Game Day
That might one of the most bias refereeing performances in NRL history...

Disgusting call, absolutely disgusting
Worse than soccer
And the beneficiary is Broncos at Suncorp, shouldn't even be surprised

What can the bunker do though? They have to call it black and white.
It’s a **** situation.
Shouldn’t have been referred. Stupid by Mbye to do that.
Generally biased refereeing from the pieces I saw.

Re: 2018 NRL Round 9: Teams and Game Day
This game was more obviously blatant Broncos bias than the quarter final against the Titans a few years back in my opinion. Disgraceful

That is a pure technical penalty, he touched him so it's a penalty? But it didn't affect Boyd at all... Matty Johns says it's a fair call, he's lost the plot

Where’s Nickman when you need him. Bring him into this thread to tell us how referees don’t decide games!

He gave a little shove. It did off-balance Boyd. It changed nothing. It was a **** hideously stupid thing for Mbye to do.Canberra Milk wrote:That is a pure technical penalty, he touched him so it's a penalty? But it didn't affect Boyd at all... Matty Johns says it's a fair call, he's lost the plot
Re: 2018 NRL Round 9: Teams and Game Day
Im sure I’ve proven I’m no Bulldogs fan over the years.
But that was Broncos getting every ref call possible in the last 20 minutes.
If the ref thought Mbye had taken Boyd out he needs to make that call, not send a clear no try on the put down to the bunker.
Also Bulldogs didn’t get a penalty in the last thirty minutes despite some clear hand on the ball, not Square at marker and second efforts by the Broncos.

Re: 2018 NRL Round 9: Teams and Game Day
Wow, Broncos win another game off controversial reffing. Colour me suprised.
Re: 2018 NRL Round 9: Teams and Game Day
Unreal. That's 2 blatantly ridiculous games where Broncos have won purely on the back of referees. Happens every year and it's disgraceful.

Re: 2018 NRL Round 9: Teams and Game Day
That’s it in a nutshell. Clearly no try so bunker shouldn’t have been involved. Total cop out.

Re: 2018 NRL Round 9: Teams and Game Day
It's a 50/50 call at best. I'm more annoyed at the running off the ball penalty in the first half, knock on by their winger called knocked back (when Foran's was called a knock on), leg up penalties at crucial times to give them momentum and a glut of possession. I hate this team because it happens every week, every year.

Re: 2018 NRL Round 9: Teams and Game Day
It is called unconscious bias and it happens over and over.
Re: 2018 NRL Round 9: Teams and Game Day
Yeah the video refs’ hands were tied - he had to call it a penalty. But as you said, it shouldn’t have been referred in the first place.gangrenous wrote:What can the bunker do though? They have to call it black and white.

Re: 2018 NRL Round 9: Teams and Game Day
As I've said before it's hardly unconscious when it happens so regularly.

It is unconscious if they do not understand what it is.

I was going to tip Bulldogs, I love deathriding the Broncos. But I couldn’t rationally justify it to myself. Not with the leg up Broncos seem to get in general, let alone at Suncorp.

Dean Pay man of the people. Didn't see the game but been clear as day for the past 15 years that refs going into the game with a preconception of who is going to win.

Amazing how much he sounded like Sticky then.
Interesting he talked about the backchat penalty against Klemmer. Original penalty was out wide. When he marched it 10m it came in another 10m infield making it a simple kick for goal. Is that the rule, where marching 10m comes into the scrum lines?

Re: 2018 NRL Round 9: Teams and Game Day
So you're telling me the Bulldogs played a near-flawless game and only lost due to the referees?gangrenous wrote: ↑May 3, 2018, 9:47 pm Where’s Nickman when you need him. Bring him into this thread to tell us how referees don’t decide games!
It was two points! Surely there'd be a dozen incidents in the game where the Dogs could've done something differently to win! Likewise there'd be a dozen moments in the game where if the Broncos had've played it wrong they would've lost.
Lumping this entirely on the referees is just such a simplistic way to view a game of sport. Sounds like they had a poor game, but it's entirely in the players' hands to win games.
GE said Oates went over UNTOUCHED. Was that the referees' fault??

Re: 2018 NRL Round 9: Teams and Game Day
I just watched the footage, I think it was definitely a penalty.

Re: 2018 NRL Round 9: Teams and Game Day
I don’t think people are disputing that once it went to the bunker they had to award a try, the issue is similar issues or even more blatant ones are happening to attacking players on other kicks and these incidents are not being penalised.El_Capitano wrote:I just watched the footage, I think it was definitely a penalty.

Many of them are only visible to the live crowd and aren’t even caught on camera. If fans haven’t seen Croker run off the ball this season or Rapana had his shirt grabbed in back play then they aren’t watching the game properly.
Don’t start me on the number of head high hits that Whitehead cops without penalty. Him and Sezer don’t over react to the high hits so the refs don’t consistently act to protect them.
