Sacked $1.3 million teen Moses Suli agrees terms to join Manly Sea Eagles

TROUBLED teen Moses Suli has been handed yet another NRL lifeline after agreeing terms with Manly, which will become the powerful outside back’s third club in just over a month.

The terms of the deal, which was sealed late Friday night, weren’t disclosed but Suli is expected to start training with his new Sea Eagles teammates on Monday.
Suli was sacked by the Bulldogs on Wednesday after a nightmare stint at Belmore that was marked by laziness and a lack of desire to put in for his massive contract.

Given the NRL has STILL not applied the salary cap penalty to Manly... why are they being allowed to sign players?! Shouldn't it have been finalised yesterday?!

He's only agreed to terms at the moment. I'd say the NRL are allowing Manly some extra time to finalize as the NRLs investigation is what is stopping them.

Under the CBA I suppose they have to. I would assume it would mean a bigger fine if it pushes them further over?

Manly will cop a fine for their cap cheating. They don't lose points because it was in a previous season but will have their 2019 cap restricted.

Deliberate cheating... but no competition points deducted? How's that?

Penalty should be harsher.

IMO NRL should have imposed them with Ricky Stuart as coach for 2018 and 19.

What's worse, their cap deduction is 30% of the amount they cheated by, accounting for the cap increases.

Daly Cherry Evans promised $400k which was not part of the salary cap to backflip.

Dylan Walker promised $100k extra not charged.

13 players, $1.5 million rorting over five years. Five "serious", eight motor vehicles etc.

The amazing thing is that the club grant is not being reduced by the amount of the salary cap reduction!

It's a ridiculously light punishment considering the benefit. The NRL are scared.

What the hell is going on?

"Greenberg said an investigation by the NRL’s integrity unit had uncovered evidence of deliberate breaches of the cap."

And they get a not a single point deducted? TPA's are a stain on this game.

Weak penalties. Not enough disincentive. This WILL happen again, you can set your watch on it.

That's too severe a punishment IMO. Just strip all of their points for 2018.

Do you want to completely eliminate cap rorting or not?

I do, but is it fair to completely eliminate Manly in the process??

Objectively speaking, of course.

Slapped with a feather duster. This is very similar to Storm and Eels breaches except they don’t cop any points deductions.

Trbojevic survives Inglis belter to soar highest

Tom Trbojevic survived one of the great Origin hits from Greg Inglis to score a brilliant try on debut.

And fellow rookie try-scorer Latrell Mitchell somehow resisted the urge to not put one on the chin of Queensland's perennial pest Will Chambers.

Suli axed for missing training ... again

Manly has dropped Moses Suli for joining his teammates late in New Zealand after misplacing his passport.

The Sea Eagles have taken Saturday’s home game against the Warriors to AMI Stadium in Christchurch and have trimmed their squad to 19. Suli didn’t make the cut after his passport issue, resulting in him joining the squad about three days late.

Paul Kent on NRL 360 says Trent Barrett has resigned from the Sea Eagles, as contract requirements not met in relation to having a head of football and recruitment manager. The "legal letter" was in fact a resignation.

Daly Cherry-Evans set to ask for a release if Neil Henry is hired as Manly coach: report

Channel 7 reported on Thursday night that if Neil Henry is appointed Sea Eagles coach to replace Trent Barrett then captain Daly Cherry-Evans will seek a release to leave the club.

Barrett is currently involved in a legal fight with Manly’s hierachy to seek a severance payment before walking out on the club, leaving former Titans coach Henry on a shortlist to replace him that also includes John Cartwright, Jason Taylor, Geoff Toovey and Des Hasler. However, there is reportedly bad blood between Cherry-Evans and Henry from the now-Kangaroos halfback’s decision to backflip on a decision to join the Gold Coast in 2015.

Problem is he wants out for a bigger paycheque. He’s a player on the up and wants money to match his improvement as a player.

I’d offer him $250k, but he will probably be able to get more at Sydney clubs or in England.

Manly Sea Eagles and Des Hasler in talks for return to coaching ranks

MANLY are set to go into the past for their next coach with two-time premiership winning coach Des Hasler to return to the club. Channel 9 News’ Danny Weidler said the club are on the verge of signing Hasler to “a long term deal to try and resurrect the troubled club”.

No idea, sorry!
Gina Riley: Oh, come on, John. That’s a bit old hat, the corrupt IOC delegate.
John Clarke: Old hat? Gina, in the scientific world when they see that something is happening again and again and again, repeatedly, they don’t call it old hat. They call it a pattern.
