South Sydney Rabbitohs tell players Seibold-Bennett swap won't happen in 2019

South Sydney players have been told Anthony Seibold will remain as coach for next season after Wayne Bennett rejected a proposed swap to serve out his final year in charge of Brisbane.

Broncos officials were hoping to confirm Seibold as their new coach on Friday after high-level negotiations involving the club’s major stakeholder, NewsCorp, but Bennett announced today he was staying put.

Damien Cook re-signs with South Sydney Rabbitohs to end 2023

The South Sydney Rabbitohs have locked up star hooker Damien Cook on a four-year contract extension that will keep him at the club through to 2023.

"I'm very excited to be extending my contract with the Rabbitohs and I'm happy to have my future sorted," Cook said.

Just days after being axed by Brisbane, Jason Demetriou is reportedly set to reunite with Wayne Bennett at South Sydney from 2019 in a move that could pave the way for him to take over as head coach. Demetriou will be unveiled as the Rabbitohs’ new assistant coach as early as next week.

South Sydney Rabbitohs coach Wayne Bennett demands $400k Brisbane Broncos payout after sacking

The fallout from Wayne Bennett’s acrimonious Broncos exit has continued with the master coach demanding a $400,000 payout from the club,

Bennett will effectively be suing his new employer after it was revealed the Rabbitohs had agreed to pay 50 per cent of any Brisbane payout to Bennett.
