Here comes the Ireland team, and now Wales. The anthems are beautiful... we have kick off. A seriously poor crowd in Perth.

Rugby League World Cup boss Andrew Hill hoped for bigger Canberra crowds

World Cup boss Andrew Hill put the onus on Canberra rugby league officials to take advantage of a wave of new customers that attended international games in the capital.

Hill admits he hoped for bigger crowds at each game played at Canberra Stadium with a total of 24,455 fans coming through the gates across three fixtures.

Read more: http://www.canberratimes.com.au/rugby-l ... zjjto.html

And I'll tell Mr Andrew Hill something. They would have got bigger crowds if the RLWC2017 had not mishandled the ticketing, ticket prices and promotion. It was a debacle how they treated the local rugby league fans, promoted the events and priced them. The lack of open training sessions and signing opportunities in the lead up to games was also disgraceful.

We went to the game on Friday just to see Campo play, but the prices for tickets were insane, for the non-Australian games it should have been a gold coin donation just to get a crowd and an atmosphere.

Teams are coming out now for England V France... welcomed as is now customary by the didgeridoo. France first, followed by England, as, remarkably, this ground does not allow the teams to walk out side by side.

It is not the best crowd, but we're told it is between 16-17,000!
