Sweet, so in 2.5 years he will find his way Canberra and be one of the best wingers in the game after breaking his skull playing fullback in Darwin. It's how this works.

New Northern Territory stadium a boost for Top End rugby league

ARL Commission chairman Peter Beattie says the Northern Territory's new $25 million dedicated rugby league stadium will bring more elite level games to the Top End with possible financial incentives on offer from League Central.

Some positive media for Rugby league.

How rugby league helped Wellington tackle its ice addiction

It is Sunday morning in Wellington, in western New South Wales, and there is not a soul around.

The town is so quiet you can hear the brightly-coloured autumn leaves hit the ground as they fall from the trees lining the main street.

It is not a ghost town — just Sunday.

On Sunday, the footy is on.

Kasey Badger's search for next female referees

NRL scouts watched on with interest as more than 150 players were put through their paces during the women's recent Talent ID day. But none were more thorough in their observations than NRL match official Kasey Badger.

She attended the event and spoke to each player about the opportunity to swap a football for the whistle in the future.

Time running out for Fiji to join NSW Cup

Fiji is again expected to fall short in its bid to join the NSW Cup next year as the deadline to produce a bank cheque to guarantee its inclusion approaches.

Fiji were one of the good-news stories of the 2017 Rugby League World Cup, progressing to the semi-finals for the second consecutive time after knocking out the Kiwis in the quarters.

Greenberg's diplomacy disguises battle for eyeballs with AFL

Todd Greenberg’s remark on Melbourne radio that Australia’s two dominant football codes weren’t at war, so much as having a mutual enemy in Netflix, makes me wonder whether the AFL chief executive, Gillon McLachlan, reacted the same way as Metternich when told that Talleyrand had died.

Not for a moment am I equating the rival chief executives with the two great 19th-century European statesmen, Metternich who was Chancellor of the Austrian Empire and Talleyrand, the French diplomat who survived Louis XVI, the French Revolution, Napoleon and the Restoration.

Read more: https://www.smh.com.au/sport/greenberg- ... 4zkt5.html

Don't know what Roy is blubbering about Talleyrand for but there are some interesting stats in the article about TV viewer numbers. He makes the point about shorter (timewise) sports having a slight advantage - I think the NRL needs to be a little careful with the direction it is heading with the time wasting and 'dead' spots in the game at the moment. It isn't a great spectacle for the viewers.

EOFY sale to hit the NRL

The NRL market is about to experience its own end of financial year sale as clubs splurge over the next two weeks to ensure they are cap compliant.

Also includes:
Samoa makes a bold play for 'RTS'
Greenberg lets cricket job go through to the 'keeper
Petero still hoping Fiji can make the grade
Tipping a winner has never been harder

So The Courier Mail has named Jonathan Thurston Number 1 on the list of the 100 Most Influential Queenslanders.

That's a sad indictment on either the state of Queensland or the Courier Mail. I'm not sure which, but I'm leaning towards the CM.

They had the premier second to him. I'd like to know what they are smoking. Maybe their basing it on his antics with the refs. If that's the criteria Croker is no chance of making the ACT's Top 100.

Let's see if this Melbourne NZ goes to script. Betting line was NZ +4.5.

I'm guessing Melbourne wins by 4.

Mole saying that Kikau isnt allowed to travel with Penrith to NZ to play against the Warriors.

He is applying for Australian residency and if he leaves Australia he will not be allow back into Australia and his application will become void.

I bet the rules will suddenly change regarding this.

This sounds like the work of Peter Dutton. He is a Broncos man using whatever is in his power to disrupt other teams finals planning.

God help us if he becomes Prime Minister, I’d rather we put Harold Holt back in the position.

Gina Riley: Oh, come on, John. That’s a bit old hat, the corrupt IOC delegate.
John Clarke: Old hat? Gina, in the scientific world when they see that something is happening again and again and again, repeatedly, they don’t call it old hat. They call it a pattern.

Billy was better than any of the NSW players this year, so it'd be fitting if they recognised him.

Billys done it all in 2018.

That 147 v India in London last night was faultless.

Backing up from winning the US Open as well.

Now he's got a premiership with Melbourne to win then a ride in the Melbourne Cup to think about.

Retirement, then a trip to Canberra to be announced as Australian of the Year...

Tyrone Peachey trying to bail on his contract with the Titans. Bought a house in Penrith and doesn't want to move now. Trouble is Panthers can't fit him into their roster for 2019.

Demonstrates yet another problem with players being signed 12 months in advance.

True, I'm For 'Transfer Windows' being bought into the NRL where deals can only be done at certain times of the year etc.

as well as having deals only being able to signed so far in advance.
