Re: 2017 Pacific Test Invitational: Teams and Game Day
Tell you what that Samoa team have a chance of rolling England if no one pulls out. Should line up like
Mata'utia
Nofoaluma
Leilua
Lafai
Winterstein
Milford
Brown
McGuire
Pritchard
Matagi
Mata'utia
Sue
Liu
Ah Mau
Asiata
Kasiano
Essese
Just lacking a second genuine edge forward. Milford and Brown is as good a halves combo as a Pacific Island nation will ever field though.

Re: 2017 Pacific Test Invitational: Teams and Game Day
They could've picked Jnr and Sia, and only lost Fifita at the last minute as well. Theoretically they could've even picked Papalii.julian87 wrote:Tell you what that Samoa team have a chance of rolling England if no one pulls out. Should line up like

Cook Islands team updated with Makahesi Makatoa, Reubenn Rennie, Isaac John from the Raiders family playing.
Re: 2017 Pacific Test Invitational: Teams and Game Day
I'm wondering that same question.. Why wasn't Paulo picked for Samoa? He has played with them every year that i've seen....

"The NSWRL enquired about the availability of both Junior Paulo and Joey Leilua for selection in the City Origin Team, but both players have already agreed to play for Samoa against England in Saturday night’s Test Match, making them ineligible for selection."
Uhh, what?

I'm talking more about Paulo agreeing to play for Samoa. He hasn't even been named?

Re: 2017 Pacific Test Invitational: Teams and Game Day
PNG, as per usual, are absolutely kidding themselves naming Nene McDonald at centre. He should be first picked in that team at five-eighth. You don't leave the only first grade standard player in your side out wide. You get him in and make him the main man ****. Don't know what the go is with Ray Thompson or David Mead either, you'd think they should be pretty vital to them.
well, I guess you could say that I'm buy curious.

PNG hunters are only one level below NRL.julian87 wrote:PNG, as per usual, are absolutely kidding themselves naming Nene McDonald at centre. He should be first picked in that team at five-eighth. There halves have probably played together and in the halves all their lives, I dont think it is such a bad move.
Re: 2017 Pacific Test Invitational: Teams and Game Day
Yes but the jump from semi-pro to pro is the biggest in the sport if we're being serious. Their halves may have played together there all their lives but there is no chance either of them is even close to Nene McDonald as a footballer.papabear wrote:PNG hunters are only one level below NRL.julian87 wrote:PNG, as per usual, are absolutely kidding themselves naming Nene McDonald at centre. Saviour is a bit of a stretch. Plenty (including me) just wanted to see him get a crack in place of one of the underperforming 1st grade forwards at the time.Johno wrote:Remember when we were seeing Page as the Raiders saviour-TW- wrote:Good old 1 game per PAGE

Yeah a lot of rewriting history regarding Page. He was killing it in reggies and our first grade forwards were not performing, people wanted to see him get a shot.Northern Raider wrote:Saviour is a bit of a stretch. England v Samoa preview
The Representative Round has a different flavour this year with the addition of England, who will face off with Samoa as part of an historic triple-header on Saturday.
While they have met only once in a Test match previously, there is plenty of reason to think these two nations will be evenly matched this weekend with Samoa enjoying the luxury of having several players who are currently among the best in their positons in the NRL Telstra Premiership.

Canberra Raiders Josh Hodgson backs selection of Heighington and McQueen for England
England players have united behind Australian-born team-mates Chris Heighington and Chris McQueen ahead of Saturday’s Test against Samoa at Campbelltown Sports Stadium.
"If you see yourself as English then I have no problem with it at all … and Wayne wouldn’t have picked them if they didn’t see themselves as English,” Canberra Raiders and England hooker Hodgson said. "They don’t need to show me anything, they’ve been picked in the team for a reason – because they’re good players – and they see themselves as English and they want to represent our country and they’re proud to do that.
