Sydney Roosters up ante for Wests Tigers fullback James Tedesco

The Sydney Roosters have tabled a four-year deal for Wests Tigers star fullback James Tedesco.

Tigers skipper Aaron Woods is tipped to join Canterbury, where he will reunite with his close friend and Blues teammate David Klemmer. Tedesco now has three offers on the table – from the Tigers, Bulldogs and Roosters. All of them are for four years and there is little difference between them financially, with each worth seven figures per annum.

NRL Tonight reports that Tedesco called Anthony Minichello to open negotiations with the Roosters, saying he was a Roosters fan as a child and wants to join a strong club.

Sure he did. As if Ayoub hadn't already shipped him to everyone. I smell broncoesque spin.

I don't think that's right. Minichello and Tedesco played together for Italy and I recall reading the spoke often about nutrition etc.

Anyway LOL @ the Tigers. Wonder if their fans are going to update his Wikipedia page again.

Woods to Bulldogs is a curious one. Prop is not an issue that needs addressing at that club. Already have Graham, Tolman, Klemmer and Kasiano. A few years back the Raiders learned the folly of pumping too much of your cap into middle 3rd forwards.

Kasiano will go and Tolman is pretty stale.

Signing it's still committing a lot of their cap to front rowers.

Isnt Teddys manager barred from dealing with the Roosters? I think that is why he has gone down that route.

Tedesco backflips on Canterbury Bulldogs to join Sydney Roosters

CANTERBURY have landed two massive blows, the Roosters have got their No. 1 target and the Wests Tigers have been gutted as the NRL player market kicks into overdrive.

James Tedesco and Aaron Woods are leaving the Tigers with the fullback joining the Roosters and the prop linking with the Bulldogs, who have also snapped up Kieran Foran from the Warriors after just missing out on snaring Tedesco.

my guess is the roo$ters will offload Gordon and Shaun Kenny-****fingers to bring in Tedesco and Manu into the 13, which would be a massive upgrade.

There's an article mentioning SKD could go to Newcastle, which would be a horrible signing for them. One thing they don't need is a massive number of errors.

It seems to me like a desperate signing. "Just get a name here and others will come." What they'll do is overpay for a guy that is just about to lose what makes him a name player (NZ rep honours, playing for the roosters).

Sydney Roosters announce James Tedesco’s four-year contract

WESTS Tigers have confirmed James Tedesco will be leaving the club at the end of the 2017 NRL season. The Tigers released a statement this morning regarding Tedesco at the same time as the Roosters announced a four-year deal with Tedesco.

Tedesco’s management informed the Tigers that he will be continuing his playing career at another NRL club, the Tigers statement read.

This is a fine example of how **** selfish modern sports people can be. Hold the club to ransom by demanding they be paid top dollar which then squeezes other players out of the club. The club in doing so puts their future in the hands of the select few players then they **** on the club by leaving when times get tough and generally it's players chasing success - success they haven't achieved at their current club because of their greed and the clubs inability to build a decent squad around them. Don't get me wrong, the Tigers have been a basket case for a few years now but no more dysfunctional than Manly's successful stretch.

I agree but players or at least their managers should really be seen as chasing nothing but cash no matter what the talent. The club should have taken a hard line stance years ago and if Teddy, Woods, Moses or whoever didn't like it well there's the door. How much good young talent have the Tigers lost because of all this? Austin, Addo-Carr, who else?

At least they kept Brooks lol

Teaire Martin or whatever his name is @ Penrith. Koroibete. They lost that fine young hooker named Robbie Farah. :D And also the backup Mania Cherrington I think his name was. Now three of their 'allegedly' big four. How much of it is a poorly managed club and/or a club actually playing by the rules with their salary cap is debatable. The key difference I guess is the club wanted to retain these players but doesn't have the luxury of such a flexible pile of cash they are able to throw their way. At other clubs if they want to keep players - regardless of their cost/value - they keep them.

Farah, Tedesco, Woods and Moses all off their books. They would have more cap available and committed in 2018.

Should swing a deal with the Bulldogs for a swap of Woods and Graham before June 30.

Twitter reactions:

Channel 9 just reported Shaun Kenny-Dowall charged with cocaine possession overnight. Arrested at Ivy night club.

I for one am shocked that Shaun Kenny-Dowall was found in possession of anything #nrl

I reckon if they sprung a few surprise tests on Sunday and Monday morning there would be plenty caught.

And yes GE - when they say 'caught in possession' they really mean he dropped the bag cold with the line in front of him.
