Des Hasler to leave the Bulldogs

The Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs have agreed to part company with Head Coach Des Hasler effective immediately.

The club informed Hasler that they felt that it was in the best interests of both parties if the club moved forward under the direction of another Head Coach.

Hasler, has been at the Bulldogs since 2012 and coached them for six seasons.

Bulldogs Chairman Ray Dib spoke about the decision:

“Today, I informed Des Hasler and his management of our decision to pursue a new Head Coach for our Club, effective immediately.

The heads of agreement reached with Des Hasler for an extension of his contract were non-binding and a decision has been made not to renew his contract for next year.

"These types of conversations are never easy, especially when they involve people we respect personally and professionally, however, the Club believes the decision to change our football leadership was absolutely necessary.

“The Club will now begin its search for a new Head Coach and will provide further information once that process has been completed.”

Interesting non-binding contract
Gina Riley: Oh, come on, John. That’s a bit old hat, the corrupt IOC delegate.
John Clarke: Old hat? Gina, in the scientific world when they see that something is happening again and again and again, repeatedly, they don’t call it old hat. They call it a pattern.

Yep Should have followed Matt Orford's deal and still get paid years after he was past it and had been released by the Raiders.

Or negotiate a termination. Non-binding may as well be no contract at all.

I'm calling BS on the contract being non-binding. I reckon a hefty payout was negotiated for Des on condition the payout is kept quiet under the guide of a non-binding contract. Helps the bulldogs chairman/board to save face and gives them a better chance of being re-elected at the upcoming board elections.

Yeah that actually makes way more sense than what we're being told

Des to NSW Coach?

I'd prefer to see him there than some of the boofheads names being thrown up for the job.

Moses Mbye set to play fullback in 2018

Moses Mbye is set to play fullback for the Canterbury Bulldogs next season, with Will Hopoate expected to move into the centres.

The team overhaul is a part of Dean Pay’s plans to reinvigorate the Bulldog’s attacking style, after a forgettable 2017 campaign.
