‘Worse for wear’: Rabbitoh sent home from training
FORMER State of Origin centre Dane Nielsen was sent home from Rabbitohs training after turning up “looking worse for wear”, leaving coach Michael Maguire seething.
While Nielsen is expected to survive the axe for his alleged hungover state it is likely he will be relegated to training with the part-time squad at North Sydney at least in the short term as he tries to resurrect his career.

Maguire: ‘Our recruits are flying’
SOUTH Sydney coach Michael Maguire says he is delighted by the way the club’s new signings have bought into what he is trying to do as the Rabbitohs seek a return to finals football in 2017.
“They’ve been really good,” Maguire says. “I don’t want to single one out, but I think they’ve all really bought into the values and who we are as a club and there are going to be some great opportunities for a lot of those players as we move forward.

Robbie Farah to make South Sydney Rabbitohs debut in Charity Shield
ROBBIE Farah was all smiles on Friday but it should be the South Sydney faithful who are happy knowing their new star recruit is definitely on track to play in the club’s season opener.
Farah’s suffered an injury setback before Christmas when he tore his biceps muscle. But the veteran hooker has recovered quickly.

South Sydney Rabbitohs Adam Reynolds driven by Origin pain
Rabbitohs halfback Adam Reynolds says the pain of missing Game III of last year's State of Origin series is driving him harder than ever before as he looks to rebound from what he can only describe as a "frustrating" 12 months on the field.
"It was a bit of a patchy season, to be honest. From injuries, to making my debut in State of Origin, there were many highs and many lows. It was a year of frustration for me," Reynolds said.

South Sydney’s best 17 for 2017 NRL season: Michael Maguire’s missing link
UNLIKE previous years, there’s been no Arizona street fight or player bust up with owner Russell Crowe. For the first time in what seems like a lifetime, South Sydney are flying under the radar.
Michael Maguire has been able to privately work away with his team as he attempts to reshape them into a dominant premiership winning force once again.
THE BEST 17
1. Greg Inglis 2. Alex Johnston 3. Bryson Goodwin 4. Hymel Hunt 5. Aaron Gray 6. Cody Walker 7. Adam Reynolds 8. George Burgess 9. Robbie Farah 10. Robbie Rochow 11. John Sutton 12. Kyle Turner 13. Sam Burgess

Reynolds keen to renew Farah partnership at South Sydney Rabbitohs
Rabbitohs halfback Adam Reynolds says he's excited by the prospect of playing alongside State of Origin teammate Robbie Farah at club level, describing South Sydney's new recruit as "one of the best hookers in the world".
"He's played a lot of Origin, he's played for Australia and he's won a comp, so his experience is going to be a big factor here at Souths. He's one of the best hookers in the world and his smarts around the ruck are world class.

South Sydney Rabbitohs halfback Adam Reynolds says Robbie Farah is no guarantee to start at hooker
South Sydney halfback Adam Reynolds says new recruit Robbie Farah no certainty to be in the run-on side in round one.
"If I had to go off pre-season form, he’s probably our hooker," Reynolds says of Damien Cook. "He’s done everything right, we’re forming a combination between the halves and hookers and fullback, with ‘Cookie’ and Farah. Either one we go with, it’s going to be great."

Dylan Walker rampant for Manly as Robbie Farah makes shock Rabbitohs debut
MANLY’S changing of the guard was in full swing with Dylan Walker and Daly Cherry-Evans starring for the Sea Eagles in their 22-16 win over South Sydney.
Manly came into the match with a star-studded backline which featured the likes of Cherry-Evans, Walker, Tom Trbojevic and new recruit Blake Green, while the Rabbitohs were boosted by new recruits Robbie Farah and Robbie Rochow. George Burgess and Jason Clark were the only other recognisable faces for the Rabbitohs.

Farah the man to lead Redfern revival
A side stacked with the likes of Greg Inglis, Adam Reynolds and Sam Burgess, you’d think South Sydney had enough talent in the squad. Enter Robbie Farah.
Down on his luck, Farah was forced from the club he once captained, booted by coach Jason Taylor, but not before being dropped to reserve grade. In fact, Robbie Farah was playing for the Wests Tiger’s NSW Cup side just ten days after playing State of Origin.

South Sydney Rabbitohs Greg Inglis confirms he’ll start at fullback in round one, backs Damien Cook at hooker
RABBITOHS superstar Greg Inglis switched between three backline positions last season but he has no doubts about where he’ll play for the Rabbitohs in 2017.
“I said (to coach Michael Maguire) I wanted to play fullback throughout this season,” Inglis said. “What happens beyond this season we will just reassess it next year but if it comes down to it then I’ll do what what’s best for the team.

South Sydney Rabbitohs halfback Adam Reynolds to miss first month of 2017 season
SOUTH Sydney have been dealt a massive blow before the start of the NRL season, with halfback Adam Reynolds ruled out for up to four weeks with appendicitis. South Sydney Rabbitohs fullback Greg Inglis won’t be moved to halves to cover Adam Reynolds loss
MICHAEL Maguire won’t be tempted to move Greg Inglis back into the halves to cover the loss of South Sydney’s star playmaker Adam Reynolds for the opening rounds of the premiership.
"I can put Johnny Sutton there if need be, we have Luke Kelly and Damien Cook could fill a role there as well," Maguire said. "Cookie has played a fair bit there through training during the pre-season so there are various options there we can have a look at."

Inglis set to miss six months
Scans have revealed that Rabbitohs captain Greg Inglis has injured the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee which could see him sidelined for six months.
Inglis's injury occurred in the opening minutes of Friday night's match against the Tigers however it was not diagnosed as an ACL injury until the scans were taken this morning.

So he played on because 60mins is all he will play for the Bunnies in 2017.
ACLs are easy to test for. I reckon they did know. Once its done, you cant damage it more.

Trainer probably would not have known that it was the ACL given all the swelling. Definitely would have known the knee was unstable and that should have been enough to take him off.

I thought Souths were very poor last night. Granted they had Inglis on one leg and no Reynolds but their go forward was ordinary. After reading this news the $11 you can get on them claiming the spoon is very tempting

If Sam Burgess were to go down with a season ending injury they'd be favourites for the spoon over newcastle

I thought cook was very very good last night and created some momentum. With GI busted and Reynolds out there was not much to be done though.
Re: South Sydney Rabbitohs 2017
Yeah Cook is better than Farah. I actually think their best move would be to move Farah to 7 until Reynolds is back because Luke Kelly is up there with the worst halfbacks in history who've played 40 or more games at the highest level. I actually think he trumps Jeremy Smith in this regard and I didn't think I'd find myself saying that any time soon.Coastalraider wrote:I thought cook was very very good last night and created some momentum.
