Son, we live in a world that has forums, and those forums have to be guarded by Mods. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Nickman? I have a greater responsibility than you can possibly fathom. You weep for Lucy, and you curse GE. You have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what I know -- that GE’s moderation, while tragic, probably saved lives; and my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, keeps threads on track and under the appropriately sized, highlighted green headings.
You want moderation because deep down in places you don't talk about at parties, you want me on that forum -- you need me on that forum. We use words like "stay on topic," "use the appropriate forum," "please delete." We use these words as the backbone of a life spent defending something. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very moderation that I provide and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather that you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise, I suggest you get a green handle and edit a post. Either way, I don't give a DAMN what you think about moderation.

I don't know that people grow out of coke, it's definitely a popular drug amongst high income earners.
Ice is so damn rampant because it's so cheap. Sadly, I know many people using it. Breaks my heart because they're addicted and the effects of ice can be so devastating

The spiral of silence refers to the idea that when people fail to speak, the price of speaking rises. As the price to speak rises, still fewer speak out, which further causes the price to rise, so that fewer people yet will speak out, until a whole culture or nation is silenced. This is what happened in Germany.
If you do not speak, you are not being neutral, but are contributing to the success of the thing you refuse to name and condemn.

hmm, fair point.Ginga wrote:That's overlooking one of the main reasons coke is popular, it's a cultural symbol of wealth and affluence hence its a drug of choice for young athletes earning big dollars.BadnMean wrote:Perhaps a tad broad. I like a drink but don't bother with coke. I know plenty who are the same. I'm no angel but grew out of "party drugs" and things once I got into mid thirties. I think most people do. I would expect an NRL CEO to have a shred of sense.Pigman wrote:Coke no longer has a type, Cat
Anyone who likes big sessions on the piss is the type who'd enjoy coke
I expect the odd drug bust in an NRL season but this sudden spike in coke arrests suggests that yeah- they've figured out it's one that clears the system quickly and/or won't be picked up on the roadside so it is maybe the drug of choice all of a sudden.
And I'm not sure that many people would grow outa coke by their thirties, generally most young couldn't afford it at $300-450 per gram till later in a career.

I don't have drug problem: Cronulla Sharks chairman Damian Keogh
Chairman of the Cronulla Sharks rugby league club Damian Keogh says he does not have a drug problem following his arrest for possession of an illegal substance.
"It's obviously been a very distressing time personally and for the family. I've just been bunkering down and trying to register things. I've stood down as chairman of the Sharks to try and distance myself from that at this stage.

It could JUST as easily be us. I make no jokes when I say my assumption is 15/25 of every club is dabbling in coke
To think our boys are clean would be extremely naive
Re: Cronulla Sharks 2017
TBH it would be 20/25 of the general population of Sydney in the same salary range. Probably 25/25 if you looked in that age range as well.Pigman wrote:Don't get too high on Mt Pious therezim wrote:Are there any markets on who's next up for a cocaine scandal?Pigman wrote:Of course he doesn't have a drug problem haha

I for one am disheartened by all of the cocaine possession we've been seeing reported of late. We had a group of our staff drug tested at work today and not one tested positive.. Clearly our employer is not paying us enough!!

Shane Flanagan prioritises Cronulla Sharks 2018 roster over James Maloney’s upgrade request
CRONULLA coach Shane Flanagan will prioritise finalising the club’s 2018 NRL roster before considering any possible contract upgrades for five-eighth James Maloney.
But he agrees with the two-time premiership winner’s claim that he deserves more than his current deal — believed to be $600,000-a-year at the most.

Moylan completes Sharks move
The Cronulla Sharks have officially announced Matt Moylan’s four-year deal with the club, ending months of speculation over the former Penrith Panthers skipper’s future.
Moylan reported for his first day of duty at Sharks headquarters on Thursday after Penrith announced his release in a statement earlier in the morning.
The swap deal involving James Maloney is likely to be finalised next week, with the Panthers awaiting the NRL’s approval of his three-year contract and the third-party deal associated with it.
