Gold Coast Titans Jarryd Hayne in doubt for All Stars

Titans fullback Jarryd Hayne is in severe doubt to take his place in the World All Stars next Friday after failing to take any part on day two of the Downer NRL Auckland Nines.

Hayne's knee swelled up after playing in both of Gold Coast's wins on day one and he was rested from the final pool match and quarter-final loss to the Eels.

Mate would it still mean as much to you if it was played against a Maori team, at the moment having only one of the teams playing with any sort of passion or pride devalues it as any kind of contest. A Maori team would probably have more to play for than the "All Stars", Gold Coast having a lot of Kiwis would help and it would also recognise their contribution to our game.

I don't like the nines but I don't mind this. They are playing rugby league in the positions they will be playing when they play for the Raiders. Plus it's one game played at regular NRL pace, rather than 3 or 4 games played at break neck speed.

Canberra Raiders captain Jarrod Croker replaces Joey Leilua in NRL All Star game

Canberra Raiders captain Jarrod Croker has his sights set on playing representative football and he's been given an early chance to impress with a late call-up to the NRL All Star game in place of an injured Joey Leilua.

"If we play good as a 17 then we'll be winning more games than we lose and if we're doing that then there'll be a number of blokes in our side who'll be putting their hands up for rep jerseys.

"We've already seen what Boydy did at the end of last year and I'm sure Joey would've been very close to being picked if he wasn't injured as well.

Hmmm yeah that's a pretty good idea actually. It's obvious some sections think the game is a waste of time but you know a maori team will take it serious. I'm on board

probably but thats pretty much it. Theres nothing in it for the all stars team. No ones going there to watch them win.
"It means a lot to the aboriginal community " gets trotted around a lot but that really shouldnt be a reason for players to risk injury for a game that means nothing to them. Make it meaningful for both sides or get rid of it

Take a look at the videos greeneyed posted. That is what the match is about. The game itself doesn't matter, it's everything around it.

Canberra Raiders back Jordan Turner looks to launch NRL career with All Star performance

Canberra Raiders recruit Jordan Turner sees the All Stars match as the perfect chance to launch his NRL career, but admits it's a weird way to do it.

"It's going to be my first run out and the fact that it's in my first game is a bit weird, but I'm really looking forward to it," Turner said. "I've got things to prove, well to try and prove, while I'm over here and there's probably no better stage than to try and do it tomorrow night.
