Re: Penrith Panthers 2016
So he doesn't think he can win another Comp with the Cowboys after this season? A team that as far as I know won't have lost any major player from their squad?
Is he trying to convince himself or us?

Hahaha, expensive retirement plan for the pennies. Sounds like Mr Gould convinced him his 5 year... Wait 6, 7? Umn 10? Year plan is gonna get a premiership.
Dunno lots of talent, but they let go of the coach who could deliver, Hook just seems to piss off the playing group.

Penrith Panthers 2016
That's a good deal
They can expect that Tamou will play at least 3 years of that deal at a pretty high level
Front rowers usually peak in their late 20's, and can still play good footy into their early-mid 30's
He turns 28 in Dec. So the Panthers should hope they can get rep quality football out of him for at least the full 4 years of that deal. Obviously when you move clubs things can go wrong, maybe he gets lazy or something... his neck is obviously a huge risk factor. But if his drive is still there to play good footy and he stays injury free, i dont see what the big deal is about signing a 28 year old Aussie rep front rower to a fat 4 year deal

I think it comes down to salary cap management and the Panthers have made a pretty smart decision.Pigman wrote:That's a good deal

They have two young and extremely talented halves locked in on 3 year deals for peanuts.
Most teams spend a fair chunk of their salary cap on halves. So the panthers have a massive saving there. It's no secret that for your young halves to be successful you want them playing behind a decent forward pack.
So spending a bit extra on the current Australian prop is not a bad decision for mine.

I'm glad we got Paulo over Tamou.
Tamou is a great player, but the neck injury is a great concern and he has achieved everything in the game. Where does the drive come from?

Your drive doesn't disappear the moment you achieve everything on the game.DJ89 wrote:I'm glad we got Paulo over Tamou.

Glen Lazauras was pretty happy winning premierships at two other clubs once he left the raiders.

James Segeyaro appears to have played last game for Panthers; links with Super League side Leeds
JAMES Segeyaro appears to have played his last game for Penrith after telling teammates he expects to join Super League strugglers Leeds as early as this week.
Segeyaro is understood to have broken the overseas transfer news to several players during a field session on Monday on a cool, windy afternoon at the foot of the mountains.
The Leeds deal is expected to include the remainder of this season and 2017.

That's a shame, he's a dangerous player in the NRL.

Looks like a player swap between Leeds and Penrith. Segue for Hardaker. Don't know why Penrith would want anymore outside backs.

They really need some backs. Hiku and Whare are both done for the season with ACL injuries.
I think they have had Yeo and Peachey filling in at centre.
I do wonder if Hardaker will play wing, or if Moylan will move to 5/8.

Leeds full-back Zak Hardaker joins NRL side Penrith Panthers
Leeds full-back Zak Hardaker will join NRL side Penrith Panthers until the end of the current season, with Papua New Guinea international hooker James Segeyaro set to move the other way to Headingley.
The deal will take immediate effect and Segeyaro is expected to arrive in England next week.
Hardaker joined Leeds from Featherstone in 2011 and went on to make 154 appearances for the Headingley club.

Re: Penrith Panthers 2016
Moylan, DWZ, Hardaker... Ummmm...
I guess Moylan will play 5/8 the rest of the yr???
But what do they do next yr with Wallace, Soward, TMM, Cleary, Moylan, Hardaker? Cant fit them all in.

Re: Penrith Panthers 2016
I think they made a massive mistake letting Segeyaro go so they can play Wallace at hooker.
Very short sighted. Soward probably won't be around next year.

Hahaha so the current NSW fullback probably won't play fullback again at club level??
Perfect.

I think Segeyaro getting moved on was as much about attitude as form.DJ89 wrote:I think they made a massive mistake letting Segeyaro go so they can play Wallace at hooker.

They also have Martin who I assume will be looked at as a bench utility now.

Walker will move to to 5/8 for Manly on the weekend, Farah to the bench for the tigers and Ferguson to centre for the roosters.

Ah yeah my bad, didn't realise we were talking about Moylan playing 5/8th from this weekend onward.. as for 2017 though, looks like it might be a different story.

Regardless of where Moylan plays for the Panthers he should be nowhere near the blues team and never should have.

Re: Penrith Panthers 2016
Harsh to say 'no where near', BUT, Teddy should have been there once fit. Which he was for game 2. He should be behind him, not in front. That was 'loyalty' gone too far.
Re: Penrith Panthers 2016
Moylan was deadset our most creative player over those 2 games and every fan is **** giving it to him. He's no Tedesco but it's not his fault. He was **** so much better than the halves.
well, I guess you could say that I'm buy curious.

Segeyaro for Hardaker seems like an odd swap.
What are Penrith going to do next year with so many outside backs?

Maloney throw a horror pass, but he looked very dangerous running the ball on 3 or 4 occasions. Had he had support might have created some opportunities.

If they are getting Hardaker we should throw some money at Robert Jenning as a backup. I thought he was very good last season when given a small opportunity in FG.
