Furner was an ordinary head coach but you get the impression he's one of the best assistant coaches in the game.

....and there is no way Maguire will get sacked. He won the Bunny's first premiership in a thousand years. He earned the right to leave on his own terms. The squad will get a clean out before the coach does.

It seems the Roosters juniors have been kicked out of the Souths Junior league because the Roosters poached a promising Souths junior.

http://www.triplem.com.au/sydney/sport/ ... -week-two/

Frankly disgusting stuff from Souths considering the Rabbitohs have signed 5 of the best under 20s on the market from other clubs recently.

Rabbitohs sign Robbie Farah for 2017 and 2018 seasons, release Cameron McInnes

The South Sydney Rabbitohs have signed Robbie Farah for the 2017 and 2018 seasons.

Farah has played 247 NRL games to date for the Wests Tigers since making his first grade debut against the Sea Eagles in 2003.

Farah has also played a host of representative football for his state and country over his 14 year career and is the incumbent New South Wales State of Origin hooker.

That should work out well for the 2 minutes left in his career.
Gina Riley: Oh, come on, John. That’s a bit old hat, the corrupt IOC delegate.
John Clarke: Old hat? Gina, in the scientific world when they see that something is happening again and again and again, repeatedly, they don’t call it old hat. They call it a pattern.

In terms of a club that has plenty of massive egos who think they are more important than the team, the club and everything else it's a match made in heaven!

South Sydney Rabbitohs hooker Damien Cook requests release to join Cronulla Sharks

Damien Cook has asked for a release from South Sydney to take up an offer to become the long-term replacement for Michael Ennis at Cronulla.

Cook is contracted to the Rabbitohs for next year but wants to leave Redfern to take up a two-year deal at the Sharks. Souths trumpeted the acquisition of unwanted Tiger Robbie Farah last week, a move that kills off Cook's ambition to become a starting hooker. However, he has been guaranteed the No.9 jersey vacated by Ennis should he shift to the Shire from 2017.

Unless they plan to move him to centre it's a terrible move. Even then it's still pretty stupid.

Absolute gun at his best, but we haven't seen that in a while at club level.

Rabbitohs extend contract of Adam Reynolds until 2021

The South Sydney Rabbitohs have extended the contract of halfback Adam Reynolds for a further four years, meaning he will be wearing the red and green until at least the end of the 2021 season.

Reynolds has scored 853 points in his first grade career so far from 17 tries, 388 goals and nine field goals; and sits in third position on the all-time first grade point scorers list for South Sydney behind only Eric Simms and Bernie Purcell.

Inglis asked about heading back to Melbourne Storm before re-signing with South Sydney Rabbitohs

GREG Inglis has revealed he considered a shock return to the Melbourne Storm before re-signing with the Rabbitohs.

“(Going to Brisbane) was a genuine thought. I even thought about (Melbourne). I rang Craig (Bellamy) up and had a few chats about heading back down south but I couldn’t be happier that my future is settled.

Michael Maguire extends his contract with South Sydney until the end of 2019

SOUTH Sydney have re-signed coach Michael Maguire, putting him at the helm of the NRL club until the end of the 2019 season.

I’ve loved every minute of coaching this side and being part of this Club. I believe in this playing group and I believe in this organisation,” Maguire said.

“Everyone at this Club knows what it takes to be successful, everyone knows the hard work that’s in front of them and everyone is hungry to achieve success, and that’s something we’ve built up over the past five years.

Very risky move. Mind you, these days clubs seem to be able to offload players early anyway

Seibold excited to reunite with Maguire at South Sydney Rabbitohs

They have trodden very similar rugby league paths so new Rabbitohs assistant coach Anthony Seibold is understandably excited to have linked back with former Canberra Raiders teammate Michael Maguire at Redfern in 2017.

Seibold is part of a new-look coaching team at the Rabbitohs this season with Kurt Wrigley and Wayne Collins both moving on and replaced by Seibold and another former Raider in David Furner.
