After they lost players, they performed like a team that would finish 11th to 13th
Did you mean after playing with a legitimate team

They deserved what they got after signing Anthony Watmough, who was clearly playing on one leg.

Yeah I'm sure Gucy will agree signing Watmough was insanity just like anyone wanting to sign his former teammate Glenn Stewart ;)

Just another example of just how much we've been with our recruits, with some of the original targets 2016 could've been so different.

Ennis, Tedesco, Mansour and Proctor still would have given us a red hot team. As it turns out we got similar quality on far less money.

Similar quality on far less means we could get more of them

Sacked South Sydney centre Kirisome Auva’a set to join Parramatta

Kirisome Auva’a is poised to make a shock NRL return at Parramatta next season.

Auva’a’s career was at the crossroads after he recorded a second strike under the NRL’s illicit drug policy at South Sydney this year. The premiership-winning centre did not return a positive test for an illicit or hazardous substance, but the offence still carried a 12-match ban. The Rabbitohs had the option of fining Auva’a and keeping him on their books but, still smarting from the Dylan Walker and Aaron Gray drugs scandal, chose to tear up his contract.

I don't understand why people keep hiring this guy. He's mediocre at best and has an absolutely huge down side.

Given the yr they just had, this seems like a terrible move... thrn again, it is Parra.

TBH, he was probably dirt cheap, and no one else wanted him because of the wrap sheet. Parra have no players or money, so he fit the bill.

You'd think finding a mediocre player from NSW or QLD cup that didn't have a rap sheet and just wanted a chance would be pretty easy.

Eels lock up Kiwi enforcer Ma'u

Parramatta continue to shore up their future with Kiwi Test hard man Manu Ma'u re-signing until the end of 2019.

Ma'u joins the likes of Corey Norman, Danny Wicks, Kenny Edwards, Isaac De Gois and Brad Takairangi in committing his future to the club, accepting a two-year contract extension. The hard-hitting back-rower was signed until the end of 2017 however the club moved to lock him up long-term.

The only other option on their roster is Kaya Pritchard.

Im surprised they didnt go to the market for the likes of Rein. But maybe they are just that broke.

Yeah, they'd be hoping that Pritchard kicks on because De Gois is rubbish. Credit to them for playing with spirit to end the season, but they really need to sort out a decent halfback and dummy half if they are to be genuinely competitive next season. Jeff Robson did a job, but he's going on 54 years old.

Hahah.. the drama keeps happening!
Gina Riley: Oh, come on, John. That’s a bit old hat, the corrupt IOC delegate.
John Clarke: Old hat? Gina, in the scientific world when they see that something is happening again and again and again, repeatedly, they don’t call it old hat. They call it a pattern.

I suspect Max Delmege knows his way around getting out of a contract or two.

Parramatta Eels launch 70th Anniversary logo

Image

The Parramatta Eels are proud to launch its 70th Anniversary logo for its 2017 NRL Season. The new logo commemorates the 70th anniversary of the Club’s entry into what was then the premier NSWRL competition in 1947.

The logo design incorporates a combination of the Club’s traditional logo from its early history through to the introduction of the famous Eel design that is central to our clubs brand identity.

Interim Eels CEO Bevan Paul said that the club takes great pride in its history and in those passionate people who lobbied hard for Parramatta to have a team in the premier rugby league competition over 70 years ago.

"Our 70th anniversary is a major milestone and one we celebrate with all those who have been a part of our club during this time," he said.

“The anniversary reminds us how important members are in our history. Whether it’s the early members in 1947 that helped bring the club to life right through to the Eels members who supported the team with such passion and loyalty last season.

“As we move towards 2017, we have a lot to be proud of as a club and I am sure celebrating our 70th anniversary will be major positive of the new season.”

The new 70th logo will appear on our 2017 jerseys, training gear and merchandise with the Club holding special events throughout 2017 to celebrate the anniversary.
