I must say he's also a LOT better as a host than he was at the start of the year. He's gone from shocking to middle of the road acceptable.

FOX Sports is on the verge of pinching Channel Nine’s popular rugby league personality Yvonne Sampson. As the ratings war between the networks hots up, Nine’s main anchor is on the verge of quitting the free-to-air station. Nine would recall Cameron Williams to host rugby league in Sampson’s role. The pay-TV network is introducing a 24-hour rugby league channel next year and has been busily locking in talent.

Channel Nine and Fox Sports in bitter legal stoush over presenter Yvonne Sampson

CHANNEL Nine and Fox Sports are embroiled in a legal battle over presenter Yvonne Sampson and her defection to the pay-TV network.

Channel 9 is trying to stop Sampson from launching or promoting Fox Sports’ new 24-hour rugby league channel in February, claiming she has a six-month non-compete clause in her contract which expires on December 31. Fox Sports lawyers have read the contract and are challenging the clause.

Matty Johns in ratings battle with The Footy Show

Fox Sports is moving “the Late Show with Matty Johns’’ to a timeslot immediately after Thursday night’s live game to be directly up against Channel Nine’s long-running Footy Show, which took a nosedive in the ratings last year. Fox Sports’ exclusive 24-hour league channel will start on February 20.

Ch9s coverage of RL is embarrassing. They've held serve on broadcasting rights, picking the teeth out of what they believe are the games of the round while other clubs (us) miss out on fta games because certain clubs draw tv crowds.

Their commentary team is unprofessional, biased, and dead set boring. The main caller is flat out remembering players names while those other two muppets can barely string a sentence together.

I understand fta coverage for our Raiders is important for sponsors etc but I'm happy to sit back and watch uninterrupted live footy with Fox.

FOX Sports will launch its new rugby league channel in Brisbane as part of concerted push to win the support of Queensland fans.

THE Greatest Game of All is getting the greatest investment of all from Fox Sports. When the NRL was thrashing out its $1.8 billion TV deal with Fox Sports and Nine, one of its main requests was a dedicated 24-hour rugby league channel.

Come Monday, that dream of an around-the-clock rugby league channel will become a reality when Fox League is launched on Foxtel. The pay-TV network has poured millions of dollars into the initiative — more cash than its AFL counterpart Fox Footy — with Fox League to be shown on channel 502.
