Best Rugby League song

Post by raiderette »

What does everyone reckon is the best Rugby League song out of the ones that have been used in past years?

I reckon the best song by far would have to be The Best by Tina Turner that song just sticks in my mind and i always remember the grand finals of the 90's when ever i hear it.

I do like That's My Team and I Get Knocked Down but The Best was Simply the Best.

What were some of the other songs ?

The Green Machine

The extended version of "that's team team" is pretty good. But Simple the Best was probably simply the best.

Anyone remember that Friday night footy song a few backs sung by some bloke in a truckies singlet.??

It went somethignalong the lines of

Monday Morninds Are Real Bad...
Coming Tuesday I Feel Better...
Wednesday Go to Slow...
Thursday Just Won't Go...
All Week I got Friday On my mind.....

Can't remember the rest of it..

Then there was the Tom Jones "What a Game"

I thought both the Tina Turner songs were the best two... "Simply the Best" and before that "What you get is what you see". Nothing has matched them.

Worst ever campaign.... "Blow that whistle ref"... a poem by Tom Keneally.

"Two tribes" wasn't bad... used by Superleague.

would have to agree re Tina and Keneally ...

The best one I've heard recently is The Ballad of Jed if that comes under the category of a league song

I would have to say the Raiders song, then Simply the Best, then I get knocked down.

The worst would have to be that poem! and and that other song they tried to bring in for the Raiders "in a league of their own Canberra's green machine" (something like that anyway)

That would be The Easybeats' "Friday On My Mind".

This is classic Australian rock'n'roll! I can't believe you don't know it.
