Danny Buderus showing his experience of being behind on the scoreboard
Gina Riley: Oh, come on, John. That’s a bit old hat, the corrupt IOC delegate.
John Clarke: Old hat? Gina, in the scientific world when they see that something is happening again and again and again, repeatedly, they don’t call it old hat. They call it a pattern.

38 point lead is a great idea. Warriors will need 7 unanswered converted tries to take a lead.

Re: 2018 NRL Round 8: Teams and Game Day
So the Storm look like they're finally starting to click back into gear and will again play a big part in September's proceedings while Cooper Cronk looks to join a long list of players who don't look anywhere near as good outside of the Storm system?
When are people finally going to realise the Storm's long-term success is solely down to the coaching, structures and discipline put into place by Craig Bellamy? People originally said it was because of the "Big 4", and they'd struggle when Inglis left. They didn't. Then they said it was due to the "Big 3", but the Storm then went on to make a grand final without Billy Slater. So then it was all due to Cronk and Smith, but that doesn't seem to be the case at all, refer to my first paragraph.
I'm sure people will still point to Cameron Smith being an all-time great, which is very, very true, but Johnathon Thurston and Andrew Johns (arguably the two best halfbacks in history) showed that the best players can't replicate what the Storm have done for the better part of 15 years without a good coach with a good system.
Meanwhile the Raiders have made the finals once in five years and people still think the coach has reserved the right to rebuild (again).

Re: 2018 NRL Round 8: Teams and Game Day
I don't like what the Storm and Bellamy have done to the way rugby league looks these days. Maybe a better way to describe it would be what they have "contributed" or been at the forefront of. However that is a large part of Bellamy's brilliance as a coach. He adapts to referee interpretations, pushing the envelope, and is able to manipulate the rules to the benefit of his club. It is the referees job to enforce their interpretation of the rules and the coaches to make the most out of the grey areas. He is clearly a great tactician but one of his best qualities is clearly his communication with the players. Just about every single player that enters or goes through their system has a really good understanding of the game. And improves. The players all know their particular roles and their better ones know several roles.
I've been a critic of aspects of the storm over the years and Billy Slater. I'll put my hand up and admit to saying he wouldn't see out 2017, would get re-injured and retire. I got it so wrong and the sort of form he has been in for a while now is a little reminder for me how brilliant a player he was and is. Not seeing much of him over the past few years because of back-to-back long term injuries you forget and maybe doubt he will ever get back to his best. It's been fantastic watching the understanding between Smith and Slater over the past few weeks. Slater jumping into dummy half and throwing a 20 metre pass (off the ground) to Smith and vice-versa, they just look like they're having a great time playing some loose footy. Smith could literally play for another 3 or 4 years the machine that he is. I bet he can see the game in slow motion when he needs to. They should switch him to halfback and let him rest in defense on a wing and he easily could play another 50 + games after this year.
Storm and Saints next weekend should be a great contest. Both sides playing some really watchable football, lets hope the refs don't **** it up.

If Craig Bellamy could deliver the Raiders a premiership, I wouldn't give too hoots about any of that.

I totally agree with you GE. He is there for the taking right now but our club will sit on it's hands. We all know it.

Has Jack Bird looked even close to a $1m player at any stage this season?

2018 NRL Round 8: Teams and Game Day
Heard Mark Geyer on the radio pushing hard for referees to stop sending up an opinion to the video ref. Had 82% of listeners support him in a poll supposedly.
This is part of what’s wrong with Rugby League. Too many tools in the media putting stupid ideas into the fans. Normally Geyer is one of the better ones too. Strange from him. I mean we tried that system, it was **** woeful. The refs sending it up with an opinion is perhaps the best refereeing change of the last 5 years. They still need to address some of the bias in their referrals, but it’s a MUCH better system!
