Re: Canberra Raiders team for 2024
Thinking about the wing stocks and the pecking order. I think this is the order we will see in 2024 - Rapana Cotric Asomua - note, he just won NSW cup player of the year. Schiller Hopoate Savage Smith-Sheilds Which is why I'm concerned Savage will not make it as a winger. Asomua just has too many m...

Re: Canberra Raiders team for 2024
I don't think Stewart and Strange are entirely ready. Chevy is not a big boy at all. Looks like we'll be forced to pick Strange, then Stewart I expect will have to wait a bit They'll go Fogarty over Sanders, easy I'm not saying they'll be terrible but wouldn't expect them to dominate as a team. I'd ...

Re: 2023 Finals Week 1 v Knights: Teams and Previews *Teams p1*
We can win the arm wrestle, but won't be able to score any points off the back of it, to make any difference 😂 All Ponga has to do is lay on a couple of tries (a slow day out for him on current form), plus a couple of backline moves for Marzhew and Dom Young, and they'll have enough points that we w...

Re: 2023 Finals Week 1 v Knights: Teams and Previews *Teams p1*
I live near Newcastle. Every Knights fan and the media are saying Knights by at least 50. They’re saying Ponga should be rested so he can fire in Week 2 of the finals. Like the win is guaranteed. This has to be positive for us, because there’s no doubt the Knights players are hearing this. And prob...

Re: Raiders player signing speculation 2023
To be fair I do step back and have a look at our roster occasionally, and think we're doing ok with what we have Warriors had a "poor roster" though to start this year. They're going great. We know Ricky is decent at raising the floor of the team, but limiting the ceiling. While playing a ...

This has all the makings of a classic upset. Take Raiders @ $4.60. It really doesn't. People were saying the same thing in the previous Knights match, and also the Storm match before we got towelled Unlike us, the Storm and Knights can actually score points, and that's exactly what they did against...

Re: 2023 Finals Week 1 v Knights: Teams and Previews
Saulo is a guy who could play 100, 150, 200+ first grade games and NEVER win a man of the match award. He should be nothing more than a backup who never makes the 17 unless others are out. Unfortunately our coach has other ideas. Guler is much the same but has the added disadvantage of giving away ...

Yes I saw Madge's review of our game. He thought we were going well until Kris's send off. No mention of attack or needing to score points, at all. The grind is not questioned
My love for this team is really being tested. I just see football very differently to our coaches

Re: 2023 Finals Week 1 v Knights: Teams and Previews
Interesting comment made in the first half of the game yesterday. We have the best defense in the league... for the opening 20 mins. Maybe our defense isn't the main issue. Maybe it's the conditioning of the team. I have to say that I have seen us struggle at times with our fitness during games thi...

Had a good sleep last night to clear the head....lets meet fire with fire.....we are not grinding/Holding newcastle in Newcastle to a 12-10 scoreline....just wont happen. we need to find at least 24 points. Re: 2023 Rd 27 v Sharks: Game Day
Thought our control in general play was good other than Young's absolute brain explosion offload. Kicking game has been good. Defence not bad, although lacking linespeed in the middle third of the field. A couple of really stupid penalties given away in defence. Our attack in the 20 has been very p...

Re: Raiders player signing speculation 2023
Yep and Schiller stuffed up with a little kick for himself shortly after. Trev threw rubbish passes. Strange was invisible all second half I think yes though, kicks like that feed into a perception that Savage is erratic/risky/unreliable. I've said it before but the evidence is mounting, it's not an...

We definitely have some talent coming through... It's a conspiracy theory and I'm always wrong but could it be Savage is being held back to form a combination with Strange and Stewart? Our whole back 5 in reserve grade have 1st grade potential imo I think you could pick any one of them and they'd d...

Nah I don't like Wighton at 3. I don't get it. We already have Kris who does a great job there, and Savage who can play on the wing. Would be a much stronger team. It's really just trying to squeeze Wighton into the team for the sake of it

Well from what I can tell, Chevy can't tackle either, nor could Kris at the start of the year Once again Savage held to different standards. For others bad tackling is a mild blip on their game, for Savage it's purgatory. I don't get it Fwiw he made match saving front-on tackles in each of the NSW C...
