The other point is how do Hutchison, Taafe and Sexton work? That's a NSW cup level spine with little upside.
Their recruitment is a mess.

Good to see the toughest pre season ever doesn’t require either toots or Madge to groom this next gen of kids prior to Christmas. Taking it seriously again I see.

Re: Parramatta Eels still hoping to hold onto Raiders target Ethan Sanders
They have brought up quite a few star juniors into preseason, not just Sanders… as the Raiders do. Ok fair enough, but including him must be a sign that they still believe they are a chance. If the roles were reversed I wouldn’t be at all surprised to hear Sticky had some junior hotshot running lap...

That’s a bit concerning- surely if it was a fine deal they wouldn’t bring him back early? I doubt he even trained with first grade last year when they were trying to keep him? They never even ran him in cup did they?

The best rookie prospect at your club RAIDERS Former Cronulla junior Chevy Stewart will play NRL in 2024, it’s just a matter of when. I was one of Smellys biggest fans. I think he has been asked to do more than he is capable of the last few years, but his peak was phenomenal. I am however disappointed that we have promised a second job to another player without any forethought or planning to what that job will entail off the back ...

And to be frank he was bog average at his role this year.
From the 6th best defence in 2022 sliding to the 12th this year is hardly a glowing reference for a new defensive coach with premiership winning HC credentials.

He could win 3 straight and it still wouldn’t change the fact that there were a tonne of coaching misadventures, mistakes and missteps this year.

I dont think we'll be that bad. The pricing is fair but my off season hot take is we will not win as many games as 2023 but by we'll be a better team in 2024. We really did reinvent the role of fullback this year, by essentially playing without one, and only having 3 spine players.
It was somewhat handy having 5 backs rucking out though, if that’s what you value.

Boomer I agree our forwards overall SHOULD improve next year. But you do have to offset the gains you have flagged with further declines in Papa, Whitehead and at some point Tarps. In the backs, time will defeat Rapa at some stage and Jack is a bigger loss than many accept but other than that there...

What has really stood out for me is that it is absolutely possible in the modern game for grit, passion, effort and bounce of the ball tactics to get you to a GF. We have proven it. Stars aligned in gameplay and outside the box recruiting. But a system, and actual system of play that is aggressive, ...
