Re: The Politics Thread 2023
I find the polling truly extraordinary tbh. Like, in a matter of months, the poll has literally been drastically inverted. Earlier roughly 2/3s were Yes, now apparently 2/3s are No. There are still a massive whack of people who are undecided which I think makes the polling a little more volatile tha...

Re: 2023 NRL Finals Week 3: Teams and Game Day
I got really sad watching that Walsh try assist where he caught it deep and just burnt the defenders.
We are simply never going to see nice footy like that under the current iteration of Rockyball. Pace and dynamism must be suppressed at all costs in favour of grinding and metre eating.

Re: 2023 NRL Finals Week 3: Teams and Game Day
If I were to ever stop being a Raiders fan, it would be because of watching a game like this. Rugby League really can be an exciting game to watch. Sent from my SM-G998B using Tapatalk I genuinely didn’t even realise teams play like this anymore! Where is the grind? I also didn’t realise that it wa...

Another try assist from CNK.
God the historical bagging of his capabilities to rationalise or excuse our abysmal coaching and structure is looking more farcical by the day.

Re: 2023 NRL Finals Week 3: Teams and Game Day
I feel like when a team gets to this level of dominance for me they reach a post-hate era where you just shrug your shoulders and say fair enough, respect. I definitely recall hating them in 2020-21 when they had an arrogance despite not having backed it up with a ring. Now they are about to 3peat I...

These guys are so **** good. Obviously its any given sunday and all that... sports is weird but its very hard for me to imagine anyone beats them They are just irresistible. Re: Parramatta Eels still hoping to hold onto Raiders target Ethan Sanders
We must have made a godfather offer for him.
It is one thing for the Eels to “want” to keep him. It is quite another for them to match a 400k offer (as an example) for a talented kid on spec.
Their desire to keep him probably caps out at offering a minimum wage top 30 contract in 2025.

Good news. With him playing as a lock now, where does that leave Puru and Mooney? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Hors will move into the front row. Has to, I've got Papa moving to the bench in my best 17. Hors/Tapine start Ata/Papa/Mooney/Emre sharing 3 bench spots. If Puru can play 13/9 he can...

Odd stuff from Raidernation. Using the fact that Ricky won’t pick Savage as evidence he sucks, despite all actual visual evidence and data to the contrary. That is literally the point to everyone’s consternation with the continued Savage non-selection: that it doesn’t make sense or accord with the ...

I really do wonder what the tension point is at which our offer would be competitive with the likes of the Roosters or indeed any other Sydney team. Obviously if our offers are comprable, there is no way on earth that KK uproots his life to come down to Canberra when he can stay put, earn similar mo...

Re: Is Ricky Stuart the person to lead us to another premiership?
This Andrew Webster bloke is going alright... Lol. Todd Payten went alright last year too. Although I think Webster is the pick of the bunch it's ridiculous when people use 1 season of coaching to say whether someone is a great coach or not. Let's see how he is going in 5 seasons. That's a fair tim...

There are many on this forum whose imaginations simply cannot stretch further than contemplating whether a coach is at the level of Bennett/Robinson/Bellamy. If they aren’t then you must stick with the incumbent til eternity. And you must presuppose tha...

Re: 2023 NRL Finals Week 2: Teams and Game Day
I don’t understand. I thought CNK didn’t know how to ball play at all and our lack of ball playing at the 1 was a personnel problem rather than a structural one. And yet every Warriors game I watch I notice that he manages to be a key part in backline movements and certainly does not look like a plo...

This may seem outrageous to those who for some reason seem to think Ricky is persecuted and unfairly criticised (despite ironically having the safest job in the sport and being almost entirely immune from criticism by pretty much all local and mainstream media. But I really think that the noble loss...

Re: Is Ricky Stuart the person to lead us to another premiership?
I’m perfectly happy to acknowledge the good things Ricky does for the club. It is why people so routinely say he should be involved in some club ambassador or similar capacity rather than being sacked entirely. But honestly I can’t believe some of the acrobatics going on to defend the blokes coachin...

Re: Is Ricky Stuart the person to lead us to another premiership?
No, but it is truly amazing how we can continually manage to be heavily involved in finals campaigns despite being so systemically flawed. Ricky has built a very very good pack, but as has been well covered elsewhere, we don’t know what the hell we are doing in the red zone and don’t take advantage ...

Re: Canberra Raiders team for 2024
I can’t believe how well Rapana has done at fullback at the backend of the season. He has gone so well that maybe it isn’t crazy to have him at fullback as a placeholder until Stewart is ready. I used to have in my head that Savage would be wasted on the wing and should be at fullback. However my id...

Re: 2023 Finals Week 1 v Knights: Game Day
Ricky cannot seriously look at our season and think we were a couple injuries and a bounce of the ball away from being top 4. In the end being on the brink of a week 2 finals appearance flatters us massively. We could and maybe should have feasibly been bottom 6. I hope behind close doors he isn’t a...

Re: 2023 Finals Week 1 v Knights: Game Day
Why don’t we play a little more like that more often?
It wasn’t perfect but we were willing to spread it to the edges often. And as a result the defence actually has to make decisions and not just compress the middle and brace themselves for the crash ball onslaught.

I feel really philosophical after that. It was a bludger of a season so that finals game felt like a bonus and a very fun and crazy one at that. We took that to the edge of a famous win because we played expansive at times and put the futile crash ball crap in the bin. That’s a rare loss this year w...
