Re: The Politics Thread 2024
TR keeps implying that these blokes were arrested for a crime they are yet to commit. As best that I can tell, no one has been arrested. They were simply moved on by police as occurs daily to obnoxious people looking likely to cause trouble. Very true. It was a question regarding free speech I was ...

The conversation is getting a bit silly at this point. Firstly, you have no idea if these people are preaching genocide – the media have described them as neo-Nazis, but that’s as far as it goes. You don’t know what they are preaching because they have not been able to speak freely. As for being ac...

Story time. In Japan, far right (and these guys are seriously faaaaar right) drive around in huge black vans, festooned with slogans and mounted with air raid siren size loud speakers. Why in your opinion is it a seriously dangerous one? For the obvious reason that when lines start being drawn, they end up being very, very moveable. I do not feel that society is under threat from a bunch of paunchy middle aged guys in black skivvies chanting in a park in a Sydney suburb somewhere...

Yes the whole ‘noone wants to live in Canberra’ thing takes a bit of a dent when Penrith sign players for fun. It’s not exactly the French Riviera. I don’t think it does. I’m not saying people don’t want to live in Canberra. But you could live in Bondi and still play for Penrith, you don’t have to ...

Personally, I hope Trump is eaten by leopards, but that court decision is the kind of thing they'll be teaching in 200 years as the start of the Second Civil War. Complete disaster.

I get that it looks nepotistic, his father previously captaining the team and all, but thats his only link to the club. He worked his way up from Captain coaching the Roos I think (or was it the blues), and did a great job with a young inexperienced NSW Cup team last year. He's coached up number of...

Not sure why you'd say that. Doubt that HSS and Morkos were costing much, and we must have a huge chunk of salary cap unspent for next year (surely!). Not sure there's much advantage to clearing these guys out in preparation for something big.

Very, very disappointing - I have a soft spot for HSS.
Might be one of those situations where a fresh start is in everyone's best interests. Will watch his career with very mixed feelings on the Goldie.
