Hi folks I went to the game tonight. There was something of a festival atmosphere before hand, and the players were great - many of them posed for photos with my 1 year old and all were happy to have a chat. I sat right in front of the coaches box so I had a little chat with Henry after the game, to...

Tongue reminds me very much of Dean Lance. He'll be an outstanding captain for the next 5 years or more.

Fast backline and I can't wait to see them in action. Christ though, they're going to leak some points.

Having said it, if that's the team that lines up on week one then I'll be pretty happy with it. Howell for Zillman, Zillman to the bench would be better though.

HI Dub Yep, my young bride and I will be there, and it'll be my son's first day at the league. Looking forward to it (most alarmed about the number of Noosa Dolphins games he's been to...might end up playing rugby if I'm not careful). Was going to offer you a lift down, but I have meetings all day i...

As big a fan of Chalk as I am, I can't see him at fullback in the year ahead. I wouldn't be surprised if he gets some time in the centres, but he will really struggle to hold down a starting spot in the side. He's caught in kind of a no man's land at the moment between forwards and backs. In a weake...

Tongue top choice for captain

From the SMH: Meanwhile, Alan Tongue, who is regarded as an inspiration to his teammates because of his high workrate and ability to make big plays, could be rewarded with the outright captaincy at Canberra this season. Raiders chief executive Simon Hawkins said yesterday the club was still to make ...

dude, are you paying attention? if he signs to the Titans it will be incentive based at around 100k a season ... considering we pay 220k for Frawls I don't think it will cost us our youug guns

Yeah, lets go for it!

Of course, we'll have to cut every young player in the club to afford him under the salary cap, but losing Zillman and Dobson and that will be well worth it for the 3 or 4 games we get out of Lomu.

Good call.

I like Weyman as starting prop. He needs some game time and 2007 needs to be the year he puts his stamp on the NRL.

Careful 69...you're getting likeable  . I guess my point has always been on these things that I think people are quick to criticise, but don't always have the information at their fingertips to do so reasonably. Carney's relegation to reggies is the point at hand. I think a lot of people ripped...

Kiefer, I wasn't referring to you, and I never claimed that EVERYONE criticising the coach is a pimply 18 year old. I certainly never suggested that criticising the coach makes everyone a ****. Don't personalise.

I am, however, lacking in class and knowledge and am (perhaps) arrogant.

It's one of those arguments, isn't it - all else being equal, more experience will probably do better than less. But all else has to be equal. It's also a bit of a skewed statistic - there are a couple of statistical outlyers in the sample - Croker and Smith, so example, that make a lie of it. Still...

I think you're completely right. There'll be some big wins and some big losses, and I don't think we'll do quite as well as this year. Keep your eyes on 2008 though, 'cause I don't think this team is far away from becoming very, very good indeed. Find us a speedy couple of outside backs and I'll put...
