Re: Do we need a 9?
Everyone in the universe knows we need a nine. We have a future champion hooker in McIlwrick and that's why the club is looking to purchase an established hooker like when they pursued Ballin. Any other young gamble buy is not going to help our cause much. We might as well just speed up McIlwrick's ...

The problem last night was that McCrone was kicking from the tight side all the time. I don't know why it kept going that side when Williams had time and space on the left.

I love not having a heart attack when Robinson is under a high ball or is in goal or under pressure. He is so reliable and consistent - yet manages big plays and dominant performances as well. Love him. p.s. How magical was that burst of pace after Thompson offloaded it to him? The race seemed to be...

That report does nothing to suggest to me that he's any less likely to come here soon. The worse the line-up looks, the lower the expectations, the better I feel - which means I feel pretty good as that line-up is woeful, particularly as half of them are carrying injuries (not to mention form.)

Re: Stuart still wants to coach Raiders
Let's say Furner called the press conference after the Tigers game to step down but was persuaded not to by the club because Ricky didn't want to be linked with the club until after Origin and/or they didn't want an interim coach for such a short period. Then let's say this means Furner has been coa...

Re: Who has become a better player?
What would be interesting is to see an established quality NRL player come to Canberra and witness his improvement or decline under Furner. However, that is never going to happen so he's either got to make heroes out of blokes who Brian Smith, Wayne Bennett and Tim Sheens couldn't help, or he's got ...

Again, RR, fully agree. The fact that the wingers keep making those simple positioning errors is a real worry. Do they not look at any footage? It doesn't seem to me to be something you'd even need a coach to explain. The players should know it or, at the very least, recognise it by watching one of ...

Re: 2012 Rd 16 V Cowboys: Game Day and Post Match
Great wrap-up, RR. In some ways I can understand why Furner always goes on about the errors because they are simple and excruciatingly frequent. When you read a game as you've written it, the errors stand out even more. I'm coming to a similar conclusion as Mickey in that it will take more than a ch...

The coach obviously doesnt rate Mcillwrick. Mcillwrick lived with Furner for a number of years. I think he might favor him. He only played 10 or so minutes tonite. Hard to rate on that. Re: NRL Dont know our captain structure
That incident confirmed that Shillo, as good a player as he is, cannot be captain because he's not on the field enough - and when he is, he's not a strong enough presence. McCrone got no respect but was still able to communicate his point as effectively as any other captain I've heard. Didn't get th...

Bronson at his best was arguably one of the top three forwards this club has had over the last ten years. However, it has been a long time since we've seen his best and I don't see him getting back to that form with us. We need an experienced outside back and Wes can fulfill that requirement. Harris...

Ok, so I just watched the replay of this game and was watching Dugan closely. I don't think Dugan is a complete failure at 6 like many are saying. I agree that his best position is fullback but we do have another proven class fullback in Robinson. While Dugan hasn't produced an anywhere near polish...

Re: New ARLC chief must give us say: Raiders CEO Don Furner
I agree with the call for an independent outsider. This idea that Gallop's replacement needs to "know rugby league" is a myth. It's thinking like this that allows the AFL to smash the NRL in all business areas. The fact is the AFL has promoted the teams outside of its traditional centres a...

Regardless of whether we think the fans should get a say at the club, the Don is right about ensuring the Raiders are heard by the new NRL boss. Good on him for coming out early and making his voice heard. Hopefully, the CEOs of the Warriors, Cowboys, Knights etc. will speak up too.

It's funny but I thought Waddell's start to the game was fantastic. He was fast to the play of the ball, hit it at speed and his service was spot-on. But then he went back to that slow, have-a-look-for-a-minute-then-pass mode that has typified his performances this season. He is simply a mystery to ...

Re: 2012 Rd 14 V Knights: Game Day and Post Match
Same dudes, different attitude. That's all it was. My favourite play was in the first half when Fensom (I think) took a hit-up about twenty out and TLL was backing up, screaming for an off-load, which he got and made use of. So often this season we haven't done that - either there's been no one ther...

Other than Shillo in SOO and Berro injured, I thought there would be a couple of other positional/team changes. Once again we go in with the tried and failed left side defensive structure. I really hope Edrick gets a go at left center. Croker is good at turn and chase defence, but he is so far out ...

While there is no doubt Tonguey would give 100% every minute he played, I seriously doubt that it would inspire the other guys in this group. It didn't last year and won't this year.
