Re: The Politics Thread 2023

In the supposedly offensive scenario you have raised whereby the value of the property drops, does that not correspond with the tax payable on that unrealised value dropping at that time too? In any case, the raison d’être of the change is to move super closer towards what its proper object and pur...

Spud Dutton is probably in the midst of a three day Festival of No bender right now, and the bloke is likely too stupid to realise that he just stamped his papers to never be PM of this country, if it was ever in doubt. Literally every single inner city seat which he needs to reclaim to win governm...

Re: The Politics Thread 2023

I guess we’ll see. I don’t share you confidence currently Zaius or Nickman. I think it is entirely possible that Dutton is able to be elected, and by garnering a populist vote from the centre, rather than traditional Liberal areas. This - i think its a good summing up - imo though its labors to los...

I said last night i wouldnt blame ALP and Albo for this and i won't but the more i think about it the more i think they dropped the bag pretty badly here. For me a yes vote is more inherently racist. Yes says unless you get this politically expensive circus as an indigenous person can’t succeed - imo that is racist. Hamas says in their charter they want a complete elimination / destruction of Israel..

Maybe people didn’t think they could do much, it appears they could do a fair bit of damage - and now we will see how well they can defend their position.

If Cotric doesn’t get dropped is he playing better at season end? You'll say no. I'll say yes. And no one will ever know. But it actually doesnt matter. Hoppa in the best form of his life is not better than Cotric in the worst form of his. As papabear rightly pointed out, Hoppa does one thing well....

Re: 2023 in review - Nick Cotric

I’m honestly not fussed. I quite like GE’s plan of Rapana, Savage, Chevy for the back three. My advocating for Hopoate over Cotric was mostly about how little Cotric has been delivering, particularly relative to pay. Why not tell them they’re both too slow for the wing and whoever can successfully ...

Re: The Politics Thread 2023

Its a strange move from Hamas - why strike a festival / take innocent hostages. If you are trying to brand yourself as freedome fighters, hit military targets / walls etc.

Going about it the way they did minimises global support for a cause which would have otherwise had growing support.

The Politics Thread 2023

There’s no irony. You’re pretending that everyone’s opinions are equal and should be treated as such. They’re not. Some are objectively bad. You have people in this thread who would range from what is considered very left, to those who are considered solidly right and apart from people who are so f...

I'm not sure that picking the most successful club coach at the time necessarily translates into Origin success. It didn't work with Bellamy years ago. Can’t say I agree with samvucago’s rant. Obviously for any player to play first grade, they’re in the top 1% of rugby league players in the country. But rating certain players as “plodders” isn’t based on assessing their talent in comparison to the rest of the population, it’s in comparison to othe...
