Re: Put a fork in us... we're done
Most of us are just going to have to wait and see about McIllwrick (and learn to spell his name hopefully) ... Looks though like recruitment of a 9 is going to be the key thing this offseason. And by the way, Orford is still going to be here next year, and after a year and a half of offseason maybe...

Re: It's time
He might still be learning what it takes to be a successful, but if he is the coach for 20 years, then you would have to imagine he will a few premierships in that time. Yes well. I should damn well hope so. And frankly it would be enough to keep me happy - I like how Manly fans can at least boast ...

Re: The year from hell
Everything said in the original post in undoubtedly true - it's just that after so many years of disappointment, under-achievement and failure, it seems like there's always going to be good reasons as to why we didn't do well. It's depressing to watch this team play year in, year out, knowing that ...

Re: The year from hell
After reading some comments in this thread I'd have to say that we've come down a few rungs from having the best playing group since 1994 ... heck I'd have to say that we performed far better in those lean years when our playing roster was of a lesser standard. Would you have said that before readi...

Jesus I hate my cat what walks over keyboards. I had a beautifully argued, logical and poetic diatribe going there... you'll get this instead. Souths are the team that have really had the season from hell. Yar boo sucks. LG had a fair point back in the previous page. However there's a lot to be said...

Re: Well done
I kind of agree with the first post... they didn't give up, they wer just absolutely rooted. I'd blame Tongue for bein stepped straight up the middle (believe me, I'd like to blame him...) but I think he had done more work on a field than h has done for years. Fensom and Picker just kept putting the...

Re: Dugan named for NSW Origin II
I think this is a much better side than in the first game. The only issue is with Merrin. Merrin deserved the axe along with King and Snowden. Feel sorry for Dugan and Jennings. They might not get a chance in game 3 if the Blues win well in Sydney. Fair enough. I think it's a dreadful team. If you ...

Re: McFadden gets credit for Raiders’ revival
If McFadden has turned around our defensive attitude and commitment in the past two weeks then good on him. We have 17 more games until the Grand Final and I hope he can repeat it week after week because our defence has been keeping us in matches which earlier in the season we threw away eg. Titans...

Re: 2011 Origin I: Josh Dugan selected for NSW
LOL @ the Dugan article with Gallen. He says Dugan takes some getting used to. This coming from a player who was teammates with Ferguson for a couple of years. The Doog Daddy must really lay it on thick. I love it. Now to back it up tomorrow night. Duges will either be the world's biggest scapegoat...

Re: Paul Aiton linked to Raiders...
Id like to see him have a shot. He's a strong unit, high work rate. Meh. He's better than Waddell. I'd rather keep Butrriss and develop McIlwrick though. Watching Tongue go around against the Bulldogs was sad. He was being bumped off, missing tackles, and doing his usual thing of running out of dum...

Re: McCrone's kicking game
I just don't know who Peter North is. But I'm coming around to the view that Rodman is being hard on McCrone. For my money, though, a Williams/Campese combination is so obvious that it astounds me that people (ie, YOU) could think that McCrone is for example a premiership-winning player: who do you ...

Re: Who wants Shillo and TLL back?
Shillo will walk back in to the side. ****, some people go off early around here. You're not wrong. We played bloody good defensive football tonight, but this team has a lot of improvement left in it, and a big part of that is a fit and firing Shillington and Learoyd-Lahrs. Maybe it's not such a co...

Also, I didn't think Joel Thomson was that good. Maybe the ball didn't get to him. Though his defense was fine. So was Croker's though. And the refs were pretty poor at spotting the Dog's forwared passes from dummy half - why didn't the crowd shout more? (yeah ok I wasn't there so I can hardly compl...

And yeah, our defence was immaculate. Fensom is such a machine. I have so much respect for him! Fensom was well deserving of the MoM award. He seemed somewhat nervous and jittery receiving the award from Wally. Sounded like he knew what he wanted to say and knew what he was talking about, but was j...

I'm with Aero and Stuat on the hooker thing, and probably Rodman too. In fact I'm wondering just what we gained from having Buttriss in the 17... apart from a rest for Tongue. And believe me I wish we had a better dh option. But I reckon that a big part of the reason Tilse and White have gone so wel...

Re: 2011 Origin I: Josh Dugan selected for NSW
James Mills (the author) can get stuffed. Hayne may be a useful attacking fullback but as a fullback defending, he's poor and his postionng is rubbish compared to Dugan. Dugan has the best innate positioning to take kicks, swat down linebreaks etc since, well, Lockyer? Dugan can hold blokes up over...

Papali was very impressive first up. He has earned at least another FG game. Mataora was a beast. Very very impressive and exactly what you want from a bench forward. 100+ meters in 20 odd minutes is fantastic. I think the two of them justified the decision to drop Thurling and if Mataora continues...

In amongst all the lovely erudite debate, it's hard to forget that Tongue threw two passes from dummy half that were complete cods and Melbourne scored within a few tackles of each. Unless his central ruck defence is two tries better than Buttriss' I am on the way to thinking that cold facts suggest...
