Re: Jarrod Croker has stem-cell surgery for chronic knee problem
Honestly, the chances of this surgery working are slim at best. So, given what we have seen from him the the last 2 yrs, it's unlikely he makes it back. His body is failing him. It happens in sport, all the time. It's sad, but that's life. The worry is, I can totally see Ricky trying to limp him th...

Re: Jamal Fogarty released by Titans, set to sign with Green Machine
Almost there. I assume if the raiders offered 350k or thereabouts, that's more than the Titans will probably want to offer if they see him as their backup half. Plus the intangible of standing the way of a guys FG career when he's really at a career turning point and finally has a chance to really ...

Re: Canberra Raiders miss signing Tyrone Peachey
Not really a risk when you have as much cap/squad space as we do and clear holes in his squad areas- experienced utility, edge/lock, half in a pinch. Who are you going to get who is better or cheaper?

They just need to go back to penalties and get rid of 6 agains. If they do call 6 agains then you run risk of just doubling down on the whole momentum argument but if you don’t call out obvious penalties because you are scared of the negative impacts of implementing them then what is the point of h...

Re: NRL expansion to impact Canberra Raiders - but not as much as Queensland clubs
Selecting Redcliffe is going to be a mistake, IMO. They have a very small population base, and are a bit like the Sharks and Sea Eagles, geographically isolated. They won't appeal to the vast bulk of the Brisbane population. Brisbane is the population base and TV audience any team needs to tap into...

Re: Starling set to re-sign to end 2023, with option for 2024
As previously reported by The Canberra Times, Starling deal is done. The mutual option for 2024 works on the basis that the player can take it up at a certain contract figure, while the club can take it up at a higher figure. Peachey deal very unlikely, as we know. https://www.canberratimes.com.au/...

Re: Jamal Fogarty released by Titans, set to sign with Green Machine
I like Nuke (not to be confused with Nike, the Shark). He is 1 I have raised before. Could easily play the role he has been playing at Eels here. That is, middle rotation bench guy, who can easily play edge when required, and apparently is a gun centre. TBH, I think we have 2 of those 3 things in Y...

Re: Jamal Fogarty released by Titans, set to sign with Green Machine
This has been explained before. It's not a swap as in equivalent salaries but may be each club agreeing to take on the full salary of the other. If we do lose Hodgo, we don't need to replace Hodgo, we need to replace a Havilii level player- a backup #9. You can't plan for the season assuming you'll...

Re: 2021 in review - Josh Papalii
His standard at the end of the year was near his best- a prop who is not only bossing the middle while he is on but is scoring solo tries from 10m out right when we need them- that is overachieving. It's just that the rest of the team couldn't get close enough to make those tries count in the end. I...

Re: Raiders player signing speculation 2021
Cheap depth edge- fills one of the squad holes that needed filling. From where he's coming from footy-wise he won't be agitating if he plays mostly NSW Cup. Okay another near minimum signing most likely- really makes me wonder who we are keeping our powder dry for. Achilles surgery is one of the to...

Re: Jamal Fogarty released by Titans, set to sign with Green Machine
I just don't see Hodgo leaving early. He likes Canberra and his family is settled. Ricky would have to tell him straight up he's not the starting hooker for that to happen. And I've never seen Ricky make the call early on senior pros.

Re: Canberra Raiders consider signing Tyrone Peachey
Sounds like we just didn't want to put out $400k for him. I think he' s a decent player and wish we got him, but it's not really a miss that hurts. Between Whitehead, Young and Hodgo's new role we have enough lock options. I would've liked the extra mobility but maybe guys like Moony and Schneider w...

Re: Jamal Fogarty released by Titans, set to sign with Green Machine
I’m a big fan of this signing but I do worry a little that all those highlights show Fogarty carving it up in conditions that compare to a fine November day in Canberra. When you have pommies getting homesick for that rainy cold miserable country you wonder how a lad from the Goldy will cope traini...

Re: Jamal Fogarty released by Titans, set to sign with Green Machine
Paywall so does it give a figure? (CT usually doesn't) He's a proper #7 at least. I think he has a slightly better running game than Sezer, but maybe less oomph in defence (Sezer was just a bit below GWilly who was A+ for a half). I'd like to see him take a fair bit of the kicking off Jack, making J...

Re: Starling set to re-sign to end 2023, with option for 2024
Awesome. He'll be a key plank going forward. Api/Cook/Starling type hookers will be effective more often than not and his quicker delivery makes us attack more fluently when he's on imo.

Re: 2021 in review - Jack Wighton
Pretty harsh assessments. I think other teams had strategised hard how to defend him- as Dally M winner they would. They disrupted his kick chase and that just stopped him getting involved in games imo- he starts a lot from there and gets confidence from it, he's the best in the game if left to run ...

Re: Ricky reacts to Canberra Raiders' poor season
I wonder if Crawley will be the voice to push for Savage to FB to spark the attack. He'd be as aware as anyone of CNK's limitations there- although he might also want the chance to try and work with and see if he can develop CNK first, he has a lot of good points to build from...

Re: 2021 in review - Harley Smith-Shields
Think the budget Cotric tag seems apt, judging by the way we saw him unfold this season with the games he was given. Reminds me of Nico whenever I see him move with his frame. I definitely see him as a winger at this point in time. Assuming Rapana has a lock on one wing position, he's probably goin...

Apparently Ash Taylor is about to sign a train and trial contract with the warriors for 1k a week. If he's willing to take a significant cut like this he'd be worth a gamble for raiders. He already has a combination with fogarty and would allow us to trial moving jack. And finally f#%k Williams off...

I must say that so far all moves made since our dismal season came to a close have been a step in the right direction: - Squad clean out of ageing (Sia, James), superfluous (Havili, Lui, Medlyb), sub-par (Aekins) and toxic (Scott) players. I hope that rumours of Williams’ re-signing are greatly exa...

They showed a set of six on the Storm line where Yeo was basically dictating where the ball went, touched the ball at first receiver I think 3 times.
