Re: The Soccer/Football Thread
Spurs have failed to score a goal for the first time in 40 matches, going down 3-0 to Fulham. The loss of center back Van de ven to another hamstring strain was keenly felt. It was an opportunity to overtake 4th placed Aston Villa. It was announced that Tottenham will play Newcastle in Melbourne jus...

Xavier Coates leap from 5 meters out with all his body out over the side line but planted the ball for the match winning try was just sensational. Warriors had fought back so well to take the lead. Warriors will be very tough to beat next week.

Kris did not come back from his HIA. So does Hoppa come back into left center and Cotric onto the wing or does Schiller get an opportunity in FG at center? I reckon Sticky will go with Hoppa to center and Cotric back onto the right wing.

Re: 2024 Round 2 v Tigers: Game Day
Mission accomplished - 2 competition points. Another good early season performance by the Raiders. With the ball the Raiders forwards did very well and Fog constantly kicked the ball into positions to make it difficult for the Tigers. Without the ball we were loose in the middle and they got their 2...

Re: 2024 Round 2 v Tigers: Game Day
Probably should be leading by more than 12, it was hard to fault their attack that half and they had 19/20 completions. The two soft tries are a worry. Middle of the defensive line not sticking their tackles led to both tries. In the Tigers second try Rapa and Levi both beaten before the line. In a...

Hudson Young v John Bateman will be a niggle-athon. Neither will take a backward step and I hope Young doesn't take it too far and cost the team by losing minutes in the sin bin or worse. The Raiders should win this providing their heads are switched on to playing footy and not distracted by anythin...

Barry Hall is 47  Jesus. If he's serious about it, he probably needs to forget the AFL/NRL route and just knuckle down and start working his way through the ranks. 26 is young enough that if he's good enough he can make a career out of boxing. There is always tomato cans in that sport who make...

I can't bag them for that deal, other than maybe its a year too long. They were rated as two of the top four or five players in their age groups and in the two highest value positions. Fair to say that other players are ahead of them now but it isn't that much different to signing Sanders on the re...

My concern with Hoppa is his 'sit down' method of taking bombs. He is so low when he takes the ball that Bula will hardly have to leap to catch the ball.

Apart from the try he scored, he also saved a try but putting himself in the right position that ensured the bunker had to overturn a Newcastle 6 pointer. Very smart play that. Good stuff GE. I sympathize with the difficulty of player ratings. Saulo only played 22 minutes, but I thought his attack was effective in that time and his quick play the ball in the Knights goal mouth set up the Levy opportunity which he took by scoring a try. Speaking of the 9, the try was the h...

I left that game thinking he had a good game, but before he scored his opportunistic (yet fantastic) try, I’m fairly certain I was cursing him on several occasions, most notably being the “strip”. So is his performance being overblown due to a single try? Hard to tell. Did the team look better once...

I don’t think there’s any sign of change. He signalled that the only reason it wasn’t permanent marker was due to third party relationships. Savage on the wing, well it’s something but he should be in serious contention for fullback. It seems the permanent marker is operating pretty solidly there. ...

The Knights are an interesting one. When you consider they won what 11 or 12 in a row last year before being beat in NZ, they really haven't been talked about at all before this season. Yes they have lost Dom Young and I also rated Fitzgibbon but they are pretty much the same team as last year. Has...
