Re: The Television Thread

Edmund Barton was also a very big supporter of the White Australia policy fyi What point are you trying to make? People are a product of their times. The founding fathers in the US owned slaves. People used to be burned for being 'witches'. Barton was in power in 1901, if you're going to call out e...

Re: The Politics Thread 2017

People take the ALP seriously on social policies but laugh off the Greens all the time, which is weird seeing as most ALP social policies are Greens policies from 5-10 years ago

The Politics Thread 2017

The only people that ever get offended about Happy Holidays vs. Merry Christmas are white conservative Christians. It’s not a ‘war on Christmas’ as people like to say. Everyone is perfectly happy for you to say Merry Christmas and to celebrate it. It’s just much easier to use a more inclusive term w...

Re: The Politics Thread 2017

Idk if you’re serious but the only one out of those I’ve ever seen people complain about are Australia Day and ANZAC Day. And Easter but that’s just because nothing’s open and they don’t really care for it. The only controversy surrounding Christmas is drummed up by conservatives, and no one cares e...

Re: The Politics Thread 2017

I think last Friday of January would be a good compromise. Keep the public holiday, it’s always a long weekend, keeps the ‘historical relevance’ and it’s also usually not on the 26th

Abbot and Turnbull are far far worse PMs. Rudd led us through the GFC with very limited effects. Rudd was the first PM to apologise for the stolen generation.
