Re: Raiders reject request from Dragons to release Zac Woolford

Sometimes you have to look at things through the coaches eyes. And look to history for pointers. What odds that Wolf actually starts the year in the 9 jersey because Sticky has transitioned Levi to 6? He’s a footballer after all. Every year we get a left field selection, and he has history of trying...

Re: Raiders reject request from Dragons to release Zac Woolford

It looks like hedging bets. Sticky rates Levi, but just in case the previous 120+ below average games really were an indicator of Danny’s ceiling, he can keep Germ Jnr around just in case. Doesn’t rate him enough to give him an extension over Danny with a broken jaw or Starlo with a number of court ...

Re: POLL: Strongest 2024 line up: Hooker

Also my comments on Puru in this batch weren’t specifically naming him as a hooker, more of a Havili style middle utility with hooking value. Instead with 4 genuine hookers on the books we will roll with a specialty hooker on the bench all year with minimal utility value.

Re: Canberra Raiders team for 2024

I actually thought Guler played well last year, certainly improved as the year went on. Saulo was fine. I think he cops a bad wrap around here. However, I do agree that Ata should be in the 17 before either of them. Puru, I foresee as a 14, and I'm hoping Trey gets his opportunity. He has more pote...

Xavier Caccioti is a smoky but given our plans to blood some youth he is worth mentioning. Australian schoolboys last year and a hell of a player. He has the skills of a half, speed and a lot of power for his size. EDIT. He will need to add some size to his frame as well. I expect him to play a lot...

Re: Raiders player signing speculation 2024

They’re keeping the powder dry for Sanders I reckon Whether they land that plane or not, remains to be seen but I don’t think they’re going to bring in another half. Sanders is the half they plan on filling that role. Once they have him officially signed, they'll work on an early release, if they c...

Re: Canberra Raiders team for 2024

My thoughts are simple, and likely very different from Sticky, and also refers to things I see as blunders last year. If you are in a season where you can’t win a comp (like ‘23), then you should be future planning. Going all in in trying to squeeze one last 8th place out of a squad is irrelevant to...

Re: Raiders player signing speculation 2024

In isolation all of the youth options we have recruited are quality and I like the concept of getting the best youth available. However it does seem to a point that we got caught with our pants down a bit and are being forced to play a lot of inexperienced players all at once and have a ‘rebuild’ ye...

I just prefer the trails. Love being out in the bush away from crowds. Love that the running is broken up from different terrains. And I think that I'm much less sore on longer distances on trail than road, and it's probably better for my joints. But yes I'll need to pivot to roads for Canberra. Wi...

In a comp that runs for 7 odd months, you have no idea of how your season plays out in advance regarding injuries etc - so to plan on peaking late and not taking advantage of gaining maximum points early season is optimistic at best. In most years we have made finals we have been chasing our tails f...

Last time I checked we won more games than we lost and made the finals. It's easy to criticise but we finished higher than teams with much better rosters. You should be happy with that.
