Re: 2019 Rd 5 V Eels: Teams and Previews
The moment Canberra Raiders rookie Hudson Young's career changed Raiders forward Hudson Young tested positive for a banned substance as a 16-year-old and was forced to spend 18 months on the sidelines. He thought a store-bought supplement couldn't contain any banned substances. "It hurt at the...

Re: 2019 Rd 5 V Eels: Teams and Previews *Teams p1*
I really did expected Young to be dropped. But it very normal that players in their first year get worn out after 6 or so games. Hors would have set himself for a big preseason so possibly would have been peaking for a while. If this is what Ricky is saying and just a rest happy with this. For mine ...

I know it doesn’t really matter. But just on the Papa potential sin binning. Doesn’t the lead ref set the 10 meters? It is my understanding the players must be in line or behind the ref setting the 10. Look at where the lead ref was when the tap was taken. Papa makes contact well behind this mark wh...

I see the Raiders have come in from $2.10 to $1.90 after NQ effort against the Sharks. I think it actually makes it harder to win NQ would have been embarrassed by that result at home.

Re: Your 2019 Ladder Prediction
I actually think we are a much better team this year. We lost 9 games last year after being in the lead at some stage after 65 minutes. Poor management or simply not being fit enough I think it was a little of both. But having a more nibble team should allow better scramble late in games and turning...

Re: Canberra Raiders reportedly set to offer Wigan half George Williams three year deal
I am not sure how the transfer fee works on the cap. I assume it is averaged over the length of his contract. But no one in the NRL would pay $750,0000 simply as a transfer fee. You would need a 10 year contract for it to be feasible.

7 NRL games and 7 tries, not the worst ratio I have seen. Very earlier days. I feel this is a decent pick up.

Re: 2019 Trial 1 V Eels: Teams and Game Day
I can't believe it is only 2 weeks to the first trial game. I was just looking at the first 2 rounds. How did the NRL manage to have a team with a 5 day turn around end up playing a team with a 7 day turn around in week 2? If they were ever going to make it fairly even on turn arounds you would thin...

Did the number of interchanges drop this year? I know there was talk of it but not sure it was ever announced. I think these changes are to get ahead of the curve. But the league may not make the required changes to make this work.

History has shown to win a comp you need to let in on average less than 17 points a game throughout the season. I feel with Wighton there it gives us the best shot at that.

Please correct me if I am wrong but a TPA is a contract between a player and sponsor where the sponsor has been introduced to the player or is a sponsor of the club. I am sure that a club like the Roosters would have many rich supporters that know that they can help the club simply by having a playe...

Re: Rapana returning to Australia with shoulder injury
These end of season injuries are interesting with this new rule. The issue is if the player suffers a leg injury and is only going to miss the first 8 games it really is closer to a month anyway given they didn't have any real preseason and is therefore generally not at the same level. You may be be...

Re: NRL ban Jack Wighton for 10 matches, impose $30,000 fine
NRL has handed down their punishment. Can't change that due to retrospective public outrage. NRL just make stuff on the fly. I could see them saying new information has come to light and we have extended the penalty. I am sure this is part of the reason why the NRL made it 10 weeks in the first pla...

The Panthers are not playing well the last couple of months. Very similar to the Broncos, one good game here and there to remind you of how much better they can be than the bottom 8, but not playing well. I believe origin has taken the sting out of them.

Agreed Crotic saved a couple of tries last night and moving him really weakens this. I just am not confident in Austin next to Sammy. It worked ok last night. But with a week for the sharks to work moves against this defensive I am not sure it will hold up.

It was getting really annoying how they kept saying the raiders are still in the hunt for finals if the Warriors fall over. The broncos are in the exact same position as the warrior and are just as likely to stuff it up.

I am sure that part of the reason the NRL is delaying their response is they are looking at the media attention and any public outcry. Given the lack of interest this may be a benefit for Wighton.

Do we know what Ricky is roughly on? With the soft salary cap on department spending and the extra 37% tax on excess spending it is going to be very expensive to get rid of him with 2 years to go. Even if they wanted to.

Re: Canberra Raiders fullback Jack Wighton pleads guilty to two charges of assault
I don't understand fines for these sort of incidents. Where does the money go? Does it come off the cap? Why don't clubs have a lower base salary say 25% but have a no off field incident bonus of say 25%. In doing this if no suspensions the player gets their full package. If they are suspended they ...
