Re: Raiders sign winger Dimitri Pelo from French rugby union

Given he was unable to crack first grade in the NRL at the Sharks or Titans, I'm not sure about that; those highlights are from a competition that is sadly not much stronger than the Queensland Cup, at the least it is clearly not first grade NRL standard. I guess we shall see. My thoughts exactly. ...

Re: First five rounds of draw released

What on earth does raising tax have anything to do with the Canberra Raiders, and how does that give the club any advantage of any sort. It makes as much sense to say Brisbane has an advantage as it is the capital of the state of Queensland, which raises State taxes. Fact is, the biggest factor in ...

We had the 2nd worse defence last season, so as bad as our attack was at times our defence on the whole was horrific IMO.

It's a newspaper article, not a full blown brief of every single thing they have changed and have been working on over the offseason! I thought the key things raised were promising. Defence needs to be a focus as does working on their intensity and structure in attack. It's pretty clear the entire c...

I like this thred It reminds me of the singing bunny rabbit my parents gave my 3 year old last Easter. It was kinda funny the first time you pressed the button as it sang and danced. By the 20th time of singing the same old song it became kinda tiresome, but every now and again you'd give it a kick...

Dunno. 5 years playing rah rah has probably extended his career by a couple of seasons! He had a few major injuries early in his career which would make him a risk, but he could be a good depth option.

Mick, Broncos get the best FTA Coverage of any club and have done for the past 5 years. During that time they even missed the finals. Yes, this is because the Broncos rate very well in QLD. In case you hadn't noticed, Canberra is not as big as QLD and the ratings aren't there. Besides, the Daylight...

I think he's worth in the order of 8-10% of the cap, whatever that may be...i.e. $330,000 to $400,000 in today's dollars and whatever that may be in the future. Hopefully the club can help arrange some 3rd party deals.

5 minutes with 2 players down. If you cant score twice in that time you arent trying. All you need to do is call your power play from a scrum 10m out. You should score off the 1st play , then you will have another 4min to score again. Fair call, but I presume one of the players to drop out would be...

If we had Peter Jackson in our squad I'd consider Berrigan at hooker, but with Buttriss in the squad we have far more to gain from him in the centres. Well, at least he's 100% clear on what is holding him back from becoming a great player! Yeah, I'm certainly not arguing against it - I'd just be surprised if he played more than a dozen games at Lang Park during his couple of years at Redcliffe and during state games. I guess the first Origin game transcends everything else though. It's probably the most fitting place for a statue.

Under the current TV deal we will get the mandated minimum games on FTA. Add 1-5 if we are running 1st or 2nd all season. The system is broke. I'm surprised this debate has go on so long given how obvious that is by looking at the stats, not just for us. Correct. There is no way any impartial perso...

Harrison clearly played nowhere near his best in 2011. Based on what he is capable of I'd give him a 3/10. I certainly wouldn't say it was the worst season ever but his defence regressed to his worst days at the end of his time with the Tigers. Clearly he wasn't 100% fit but at times he also looked ...

How much footy did Beetson play at Lang Park? I know he's a QLD legend, but it would also be fitting for a statue of him at the SCG (even though we rarely play there any more). He's probably played at the cricket ground a hundred times including plenty of significant rep games and grand finals. You ...

That's why West Basin is a decent option - although somebody in Canberra will always have a whinge about new stuff being built near the lake. It's bad enough trying to do anything to improve Manuka Oval.

Canberra Stadium is pretty much in the middle of a residential area now anyway.

I can see arguments for and against both systems. At the end of the day, either way you generally end up with the two teams in the best form in the Grand Final. If you finish top 2 in the the McIntyre system you're safe from elimination in week 1. If you finish 3rd or 4th and lose in week one after ...
